Question about kate

Okay I was watching some old days clips on Youtube and in one of the videos which was from 2001, Kate was working at a diner. Okay I was watching Days during this time but I do not remember this can someone tell me the story and why Kate was working at the diner?

Victor threw Kate out of the mansion on her ear, she was penniless, living in some beat up run down car, and then even a woman's shelter. She met Fay Walker there. Fay worked at the diner.....(the owner was called Mel) and Kate got the job there. It was called the Hudson St. Diner, and for some time, the cops would come for breakfast, in fact a lot of Salemites popped in and out.

Wow, wish the Hudson St Diner was still around and the walls could talk. Maybe we'd find out what Kate and Madeline were up to! LOL
