I don't think Rafe entirely believes Ben's story, at least that was the feeling I was getting. I think Rafe knows something is not right here he just cannot quite put his finger on what it is, not yet anyway. Ben's explanation for that fight was absurd.

Today Ben and Clyde's conversation was very creepy. I think Clyde was horrified that Ben had done all of these killings, just to get and keep Chad out of the way.
Clyde realizing that Ben actually killed his own buddy Will, the expression Clyde's face was shock! Now Clyde will not be there to protect Ben and the kid is going to be caught and rot in jail (hopefully).

The writers don't allow the characters to spot the obvious....such as why was Chad beaten unconscious yet Ben had a red mark on his cheek that vanished within the hour! But Ben feared for his life and safety of Abby who wasn't even home.
