Soaps and real life?

So I noticed some things with soaps and kind of how it is portrayed in real life. I kind of always felt Ma and me were like Lucas and Kate the way we fought and the way she slapped some sense in my face though. I don't know, would be nice to see some people who can relate to storylines happening now.
