FROM THE VAULT: TWO NEW FUN FACTS: JOHNNY APPLESEED & PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON SPENT TIME IN SALEM!

Here are two new fun facts found out about Salem. In Episode # 3236 (August 31, 1978), Dr. Paul Whitman tells Marlena that Johnny Appleseed was said to have planted a tree in Salem on Fourth & Main, and that President Woodrow Wilson spent a night at the Salem Inn.

Good one Poirot!! :)

I was actually posting these two scenes of Paul & Marlena since they discuss loving each other, but then I noticed these two fun facts so I quickly posted those two pages. Will post the full scenes hopefully later tonight.

If this is the case, maybe we can have a story about a coven of witches in Salem. I can think of a couple members that will get honorary membership. Perhaps Gabi, Kate, Sami.

It's a good thing that Johnny Appleseed arrived when he did. He he showed up now to plant his trees, he probably would have been the subject to aggressive amorous advances by Gwen, which would have put a quick end to his tree-related career. The same goes for Woodrow Wilson. Coming to Salem in later years would risk getting in some kind of scandal that his political enemies could have used to prevent his reelection. E.g., "Don't vote for President Wilson. He's become involved in dirty business deals with both Victor Kiriakis and the infamous Stefano DiMera." As for the name of the town, if the locals wanted to name their town after a place where a witch hunt took place, they ought to have considered Danvers. The big witch hunt was in Salem Village, not the town of Salem. Today, what was Salem village is part of the town of Danvers, MA, which has a Salem Village Historic District.

Salem's true historical model.
