Today Y&R is honoring Tracey E. Bregman's 40th year of playing Lauren Fenmore by showing clips from her years on the show. She started out in the soaps on Days as Don Craig's unknown teenage daughter, Donna.
After leaving Days in 1980, she went to Y&R in 1983 and has played Lauren Fenmore Baldwin ever since.
Her Y&R character of Lauren has some semi-Days ties. After Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) left Days in 1984, she went to Y&R and played Joanna Manning, the mother of Lauren Fenmore.
Zach Tinker, who plays Sonny Kiriakis on Days, also plays Lauren's son, Fenmore Baldwin, on Y&R.
Greg Rikaart, who plays Leo "Matty" Stark on Days, also plays Lauren's brother-in-law, Kevin Fisher, on Y&R.
Emily O'Brien, who plays Gwen Rizczech on Days, also played Lauren's former sister-in-law, Jana Fisher, on Y&R. Her character and Greg Rikaart's character, Kevin, were married on Y&R.
Judith Chapman, who played Anjelica Deveraux and also played Diana Colville this last time on Days, also plays Lauren's mother-in-law, Gloria Abbott Bardwell, on Y&R.
Back in 1991 on Y&R, Lauren became pregnant. Her enemy, Sheila Carter, slept with Lauren's husband and got pregnant too, but miscarried the baby. Sheila pretended to still be pregnant, bought a baby on the black market, then switched the newborns, so that Sheila was raising Lauren's real baby. Lauren's black market baby died about a year later from an illness, then she eventually found out Sheila's baby was her real baby and they were reunited.
Obviously the Nicole, Sami, Grace and Sydney storyline was a complete re-do of the Sheila and Lauren storyline from 1991. The only difference was that the Y&R babies were boys.
