Morning all.
Like Noel, I saw next week's weather and thought OMG, it is almost time to open up the house at night. But alas, if this morning was any sample of what the next week will bring, it'll be nope. Another week of 24/7 A/C. The drive for the office A/C unit went out. They were able to get it fixed around noon. But with sealed windows it was really stuffy yesterday.
Had a great Bonsai Club meeting last night. One of our members talked about adeniums and how to care for them. They aren't truly bonsai but when you live in the desert, you are limited with what you can use. The attached picture is NOT one of our club's. Mine are all just leggy, leafy things. They have passed flowering time, care, water 2-3 times a week.
When you hear that the first COLD rain is coming, mid to late November, you bring them in before the rain, put them in a safe dark place in your garage and after the 2nd night in a row when the overnight low is 50 degrees and frost worries have left, late March you bring them out, repot and trim. The perfect lazy person's plant.
I can say that the nursing home news is bringing up unpleasant nightmares for me. How could they?? How could they not check on people?? I get that the staff had their own families and homes to check on. But really, you couldn't check on the people placed in your care?? You couldn't call for help??
Almost as bad as Marriott Hotel who sent a boat to pick up people stranded on the islands in the Caribbean and ONLY picked up people who could prove they stayed at their hotel. Took half filled boats to an island less damaged so those folks could get food/water and arrange for passage home. Left others waiting for some other something to help them. They are still waiting.
Okay, off to work.
Happy Thursday.
