Brady Victor Black
Brady is the son of John Black and Isabella Toscano aka Kiriakis. He was born on May 19, 1992 at the wedding of his parents. Brady is named after the Brady family of Salem and for his maternal grandfather, Victor Kiriakis. Isabella died of pancreatic cancer a few months after Brady’s birth and he was sent to boarding school. Shortly after his mother’s death, Brady’s father married long-time love, Dr. Marlena Evans North Craig Brady Black.. For dramatic purposes, the character was quickly aged and in 2000, Brady returned to Salem as a college student. Brady has a half-sister, Isabella Black Kiriakis Brady and is stepbrother to Samantha Gene (Sami) Brady.
Brady had always thought Marlena was his real mother and was very upset when he found out the truth. Resentful of his stepmother and jealous of his half sister, Brady was very intolerant of Marlena and they were always at odds with each other. At one point, Marlena became convinced that Brady was trying to kill his sister, but that was not the case. Marlena’s actions led to Brady’s being shot by Abe Carver when Abe mistakenly thought Brady had shot Roman Brady. As a result, Brady was paralyzed from the waist down. Brady eventually regained the use of his legs and made amends with Marlena. They are now very close.
Brady met Chloe Lane and they fell in love. Although he chided her about her singing, Brady was very supportive of Chloe’s desire to become an opera singer. Due to some machinations by Victor, Chloe left for Europe and Brady was brokenhearted. Chloe was in an automobile accident and was thought to be dead for some time. Brady turned to his ex step-grandmother, Nicole Walker, for comfort. Although it was merely a fling for Brady, Nicole fell deeply in love with him. Chloe eventually returned to Salem and after the usual soap ups and downs, Brady and Chloe married on September 16th, 2005 against the wishes of his grandfather, Victor Kiriakis, who despises Chloe. The newlyweds left Salem for Vienna in order for Chloe to pursue her career.
Brady returned to Salem as a divorced man in 2008. He had become addicted to drugs in Austria and spent several months in a rehabilitation facility. History was rewritten so that Brady was carrying a torch for Nicole Walker (now DiMera) and she was now the love of his life. Brady helped Nicole in her scheme to fool her husband into thinking she was having his child. There were many ramifications from his helping Nicole and she eventually went to prison for her crimes. Nicole didn’t want to see Brady anymore and, once again, he was devastated over a lost love.
Brady quickly made friends in Salem and became a confident to many of them. He met a waitress, Arianna Hernandez, and they fell in love and became engaged. On the day they were to be married, Nicole returned with the intention of getting Brady back by hook or by crook. Although Brady denied that he was still in love with Nicole, it was obvious to Arianna (and viewers) that he had never gotten over her. Arianna broke the engagement after being arrested for a series of muggings in Salem and Brady gravitated toward Nicole again. As of today, Brady and Nicole live in the Kiriakis home.
Recently, Brady found out that Vivian Alamain, Victor’s wife, had planned to entomb a family friend in a sarcophagus and had even had Isabella’s remains interred in a pet cemetery. The usual even-tempered Brady became outraged and locked Vivian in it instead. Nicole and Victor both found out what he did but Brady began to regret his actions after his mother appeared to him and convinced him that what he is doing is wrong. Brady wants to release Vivian but Victor won’t hear of it and Brady is in turmoil.
