They've had her say many times that she and Jennifer were fighting over Frankie while in high school, which like you said, never happened.
 
I think it's a fact and obvious that the writers rewrote Eve and Jennifer's history so that they went to high school together. When Kassie DePaiva first came back to Salem as Eve Donovan at the time I remember Jennifer bringing down her high school yearbook for JJ to see. That's where Eve's picture shows up in the yearbook Jennifer mentioning to JJ that Eve was like her arch-rival in high school. JJ had no idea or Jennifer that Eve was Paige's mother as well. I just go by they went to high school together with Frankie.
 
Since Eve was originally younger, but was recast with an older actress, guess someone decided how to age the character, while retconning her back story!
