My dear friends......
I am in the position of watching the show every day, no matter what, since I do summaries. But I have done so since I first began watching the show way back. Rain or shine.....unless i was on vacation for a few days down in Chicago, I watched, no matter what. I have loved some stuff, hated other stuff, rolled my eyes, praised and complained, was in awe, was disappointed greatly. I have lived thru a lot of different writers, characters, changed personalities, detested storylines, wonderful ones.
But one thing I have NEVER done, is say I would stop watching because this or that happened, or did not happen, or that I did not approve of storyline.
I am a fan of Days, a viewer, a loyal one. Yep, I have gotten just as aggravated and annoyed as I have on nighttime prime time shows at times. It is why I volunteered to be part of the Early Edition for several years, and why I finally agreed to Wayne's months of pestering me, lol, to host this board.
In that capacity, I have tried to make this board a safe place, where one can not be bashed for opinions, where one does not run into unexpected cursing, where people can debate, agree to disagree, and all are friends. Where we can laugh, get jokes, do humorous threads, giggle, smile, join in, come back for more.
And yes, Days, just like other shows, has it's ups and downs. Tis amazing how one day can be the pits and the next is fantastic. And then we have Corday, owner of a business who has no idea how to run it. And we have NBC, not helping at all, with their puny payment to the show. Thus, we have the playing of musical chairs with the writers, as the inept Corday attempts to rectify.
Through it all, we have stayed. We have not jumped ship. Our site is not only here, but on Facebook as well, Though I am not on Twitter that much, we are there as well. (If I knew how to post as Salem Spectator, I would. But only Wayne knows that password)
It pains me to read those of you so loyal viewers who are professing to jump ship. You don't like a storyline, or the way a character is portrayed, or the coupling. And others feel the same way, but are sticking it out. Real life is not always happy, is it? People die, move far away, we lose jobs, witness family or friends' problems, have disappointments, failures, health issues, and yet we go on, don't we?
So why is it, that when these same things occur on Days, people are ready to call it quits? Already? Despite the news that new writers are coming aboard? Despite the fact that this is a soap staple?
So, you don't like Rafe/Hope. Folks did not like Daniel/Jen, did they? Or Eric/Serena? Or Kayla/Shane? Or Sami/EJ? Did you really like Nicole's father impregnating Jan Spears? Or Belle marrying Philip while Shawn married Mimi?
Hey, we all survived it, didn't we, as did the characters.
Folks, I love this board, and all of you. Just upset at the idea that some are thinking of deserting, because a story is not going the way one wants it to go. Yep, free will and all that.
