Chad Peterson Woods arrived in Salem June 19,2009, the son of D.A. Woods and Judge Peterson. Chad had been away at military school for the past year, where his parents sent him to keep him away from what they considered “the wrong crowd”. He showed up at Java Café looking for girlfriend, Mia, not knowing she had not only given birth to their baby, but had given it away. He eventually learned the truth, and was told the baby is now with Nicole & EJ DiMera. Chad tried to gain custody of the baby, Sydney, but in time learned that Nicole had switched the baby with Sami Brady’s baby…named Grace, who had recently died of meningitis. Both Chad & Mia mourn the death of their baby, and then Chad tries to hook up with Mia again, but she is dating Will Horton.
He takes up with Gabi Hernandez, causing Mia to get jealous and try to play both guys. Mia eventually leaves town (with a bit of help from Kate Roberts) and is off to New York to purse a dancing career. Meanwhile, both Chad & Will note that Chad’s mother, Madeline had known Kate (Will’s grandmother) for some years. Both are curious, especially when they find a picture of the two women together, and get a runaround as to the where/why it was taken.
Chad graduated high school in June 2010, planning to go to college – Wake Forest. He learned his mother had been a hooker, and when he was asking her about it on the pier, Madeline fell down the stairs, tho it is due to an aneurysm. However, his father, D.A. Charles Woods blames him for Madeline's death, and goes off to Chicago. Chad decided to stay in Salem and attend the local university.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Kate Roberts attained access to Madeline’s safety deposit box, and found Chad’s original birth certificate, which names Stefano as his father. She told no one, not even Stefano, but eventually offered Chad a job at DiMera Enterprises. Chad was a bit put off, feeling Katewas coming on to him (Mrs. Robinson, anyone??) but she assured him she was offering the job for the sake of her husband. Chad was puzzled over that.
