8-18-2019 - Donuts and a Quiet Sunday

Good Sunday Morn!

Today our heat will be 110F. Right now it is glaringly sunny, no clouds, and a streak of dust in the blue sky. We plan a totally restful day today -- that usually means movies/tv, reading, and naps after church.

OC: sending wishes for a cooler Peaceful Sunday coming your way.

To all who post later wishing you a lovely Sunday.

It's going to be another hot day here too. I got the petals picked up after church.
After the noon meal, I'll be doing another week of the Bible study. Then I'll
only have one week left of that one.

OC, I hope you can stay in this afternoon after church.

Noel, enjoy your lazy afternoon.

rk, enjoy your afternoon at the splash pad.

Wishing everyone a nice afternoon and evening.

Morning.... the light looks so different coming in through the back of the house..... now that the patio is on...... yesterday afternoon I proved I couldn't ride the shark ride on that I had purchased as a pool toy.... it became 8 seconds.... I couldn't make that...... so a bull rider I am not... LOL it was a fun experiment.... but today the shark will be deflated and put back into a box...... he came fully inflated... and didn't fit in the Subaru........

I hope all who have been here and all to come have a peaceful Sunday.....

Hi all, back from church. So, I woke st quarter to 3 a.m. No idea why. and thus the rest of the night was wake up, manage after 10-15 min to fall back asleep, weird dreams, wake, repeat. I know it was 10 to 4, 5:30, then 6:30. Could see it was later getting light, but when I finally decided I would not fall back asleep again, discovered it was raining! Well, that ended around 8:30. Got dressed, went to store before church, as otherwise there is NO Sunday paper, and the Knights of Columbus put on a pancake breakfast after the service which was nice. Someone even made biscuits & gravy!!! There was ham instead of sausage, nice, strawberries, applesauce, yep, good brunch meal. !!! Sun out while in church, but since has been in and out, threatening more rain, but then returning, ...not yet, folks. LOL
By the way, it is after 6 a.m. now before the sun rises. All morning I kept singing that "September" song in my head........For it's a long, long time, from May to December, but the days grow short......when you reach September...
Got to read Sunday paper, ...well not all, i do parts all day. First ...the Suduku puzzle. LOL

Noel, I don't think it will be any cooler here today than it was yesterday but it IS cooler than where you are, so yes, it is a cooler day. But I'll be staying in and it is plenty cool inside my house. Enjoy your relaxing day.

Rk, a splash party sounds fun. Your pastor is one busy person! Hope you enjoy the afternoon.

Kat, good thing you got your petal picking done before it got too hot. Enjoy the Bible study.

Robin, I'm thinking the light coming in through the patio would be shady instead of bright and glaring. That sounds like a good thing to me. I'd be able to keep my curtains opened more if I had something like that. I'd never thought of a shark as being a seafaring bull, but now that I think about it, I guess riding one would have its similarities to riding a bull. I might as well admit, I'd never thought of anybody riding a shark at all. Lol.

Poirot, I love that September Song. I was listening to that kind of music yesterday. The sun is coming up here a few minutes after 7:00 now. I talked to my son last night. They are in southern Oregon. He said it isn't getting light quite as early as it did further up north but still is awfully early by his standards. He said he finally gave in and switched away from Central time though, so maybe he'll adjust--in time to head back to Texas. Ha!

A burly, seasoned cowboy just came to my door and introduced himself. Seems he has just leased the property next to mine and he's getting ready to put some cattle on it and sow some wheat. But the owner has not been working the property in recent years so there are some fences down and some of my cows are over there, along with someone else's cows from other directions. He was pulling a big, heavy-duty trailer with a good size tractor on it. Said he was going to mow along the fences where he could and was going to spray the mesquites that are grown up in it, then he's going to repair the fences (will take some days to do all this). After he gets all that under control he will get the cows back where they belong. He also said I have cows out on the river and he said he'd get them back in too. Talk about a God-send, an angel of mercy! I was dumbfounded. You would not even believe me if I told you what all this man does--takes care of hundreds of cattle on thousands of acres, some his, some the person he works for as his regular job. His wife helps him but she has a full-time job too. He knows everybody in the area, grew up with the cowboy who helps me, had done some work for my sister in the past, has worked for and with most of the people around me, etc. It about blew me away, just hearing him tell it.

OC... that man is an Angel... How great for you to have this done.....
I grabbed a picture of the shark in my pool..... in a couple of hours I'll give it another go..... I have to wait till the sun is off the pool.....

He is just swimming around teasing me.... I can hear his laughter inside.....

Poirot: what a yummy brunch to start your day. I am going to search for that song do I can listen to it today.

Kat: enjoy your Bible study time and evening.

OC: that is a angel cowboy if ever I heard of one and do appropriate he is in Texas! What a blessing!

Robin:, a shark in the hot desert? Our heat could melt him. Ride that bull shark.

That was nice, Poirot, the pictures and the music. I do like Andy Williams but I agree with you, I think Frank Sinatra can't be beat for this song. Now you've got me indulging in some nostalgia. When my husband I and were first getting to know each other, he took me to Greenwich Village to see the Fantasticks. I've always loved the song from that--Try to Remember.....the kind of September.....

Robin, that shark is a pretty wicked looking critter! I wish I could see a picture of you riding it.:)

Yes, that cowboy was an angel. I don't know if I could handle getting out in this heat to do anything. I've been having some vertigo lately anyway.

yep, at one time, song writers, could really create beautiful and meaningful songs...and singers could do them justice...

Thank you for posting that, Poirot. I didn't know he did that song. I've seen Jerry Orbach do it. I knew he was one of the early ones who played the part in the Fantasticks but I didn't know about Ed Ames. We saw it in 1975, long after either one of them was in it. I would have loved seeing it with either one of them.
