Today was one of many quick scenes, a sentence here a word there. It was a very choppy show.

Ben arrives home to his place, over the garage? Empties his backpack. He is missing a book.

Ciara in her hospital bed looking for the remote, finds the book.

Belle and Shawn at nurses' station, discuss if they arrest Jan, she will press charges against John.

John tells Marlena that he remembers hearing a gunshot.

Tripp tells Allie that there is something he has to tell her about Charlie.

Ava tells Nicole that when she got to Charlies, she saw Tripp leaving, then Ava went upstairs and found Charlie with a bullet in his chest. Nicole tells Ava what she is saying this is huge. Ava didn’t think it was important. Nicole said you didn’t think seeing Tripp leave was important?

Allie tells Tripp she can trust him. Tripp looks like he is going to tell Allie, BUT not now, maybe later.

Marlena tells John so you don’t remember where or when you were when you hear the gunshot. John drove to Charlie’s, he went to get out of the car but a searing pain crippled him and he passed out. The gunshot he hears is loud, too loud for him to have remained in the car.

Belle is angry that Jan is going to blackmail them into letting her skate on the kidnapping charges. (why everyone does this in Salem) Belle and Shawn say they won’t let Jan beat them, with Belle’s legal mind and Shawn’s detective skills.

Ciara in bed looking at the book and flashing back to Ben talking to her, begging her to remember their love. Opens book, flashes back to being in the room Ben coming to the glass.

Ben in his depressing room holding the book, says Ciara, hugs they share a flashback.

John and Marlena talk about John being the possible killer, he was angry and he was there, so what if I put a cap in him? Belle walks in to tell her parents about Jan, that if they arrest Jan for kidnapping Belle, Jan will press charges for attempted murder on John.

Tripp is starting to tell Allie about his Charlie visit when there is frantic knocking on the door. Sami comes in saying "guess who’s off the hook??!!"

In the battle of the ponytails, Nicole tries to talk to Ava about keeping quiet about Tripp being at the apartment. Ava thinks Charlie made everyone angry. Nicole wants to tell Rafe, and of course Rafe walks in hearing that.

Sami and Allie giggle and chat.

Rafe tells the ponytail gang that Sami has been let go. Nicole figures that the killer is still out there? Ava asks if there are any new suspects.

Sami comes in chatting as always, and finally spots Tripp, Sami apologies to him for thinking wrong of him. Sami tells Tripp that she wishes she could say she was sorry about his brother, but she’s not. Tripp understands.

John is happy that Jan is not near him because he’d put her back into a coma. Belle calms him down. Pounding at the door. It’s Ben, he pulls Marlena away from her real family.

Shawn walks into Ciara’s hospital room, asks her what’s wrong, Ciara says nothing, she’s fine. Shawn is unable to find Hope. Many calls to Hope but she’s not responding. Hope is doing what she needs to do. Ciara misses her mom. Shawn picks up a book Ciara, goes on and on about how lame Ben Weston is. Ciara doesn’t want to remember being with Ben.

Out in the hallway of Marlena’s house, Ben talks about how Ciara and he shared a memory. Ben knows that NOW Ciara will want to know all about their shared life.

Belle tells John that all charges have been dropped against Sami.

Sami, Tripp and Allie all stand around talking. Henry is going to need men in his life to look up to. The M.E. proved that Charlie was long dead before I shot him. Sorry Tripp.

Rafe tells the girls that there are no new suspects. Rafe is going to make his famous tacos so Nicole and Ava are going to feast. The ponytail girls go outside without coats to talk about telling Rafe about Tripp being at Charlie's apartment.

Sami, Tripp and Allie still standing talking when Henry cries, they let Sami go get him. Allie tries to get Tripp to tell her that he didn’t kill Charlie.

Belle wishes Jan stayed in the coma. Shes worried about Claire bonding with Jan again because of the problems with Ciara.

Ben still in the hallway begging Marlena about this magical connection, it won’t fade, it won’t break.

Ciara and Shawn discuss Ben and his love for Ciara. Ben is better now. Shawn suggests talking with Marlena.

Allie and Tripp, he almost tells her about being at Charlie's, but Sami comes out with the Henry doll in a blanket saying look how big you’ve gotten, which interrupts him.

Tacos are ready. Rafe wants to know what Nicole was going to tell him. It is Duke (the teddy bear), Henry ripped his eye out. She leaves, thanks him for the tacos, but you didn’t eat them he notes.

Belle is going to figure out a way to keep John safe from Jan. John tells Belle to have Shawn arrest Jan and put her away forever.

Hallway chat - Shawn calls Marlena to tell her something about Ciara.

Sami talks to Allie.

Tripp says hello to Nicole, who is very distracted. Nicole tells Tripp it’s only a matter of time before they catch the killer.

Taco time. Ava likes the tacos. Rafe will share the recipe so she can make them for Tripp. Ava tells Rafe she made Charlie, it’s her fault, but she feels relieved that he is gone. Rafe says that you feel justified? Ava tells Rafe that if he wants to drop the case right now, Ava would be fine with it. Rafe says he understands, but he is a cop and he must bring the person to justice.

Belle tells John he doesn’t need to be behind bars, John claims he will be fine as he keeps hearing gunshots.

Ciara is going to allow Marlena to hypnotize her. Ben is thrilled.

Thank you, robinsnest.

Was also going to say that the writers were pretty lame with having Nicole say that Henry ripped out the teddy bear's eye. That's something you'd say in passing, not as something you'd tell someone else that you're thinking of telling a third person.

I hope Ciara really wants Marlena to help her remember her love for Ben, and this isn't some excuse the writers concocted for her to go running out of Salem.

Plus Henry could have choked on that eye!! Good lord he is 8 months old. Use a bigger doll!!

Marlena better help Ciara and this better end! Why doesn't anyone tell Ciara how happy she was married to Ben! At least Shawn was talking him up today! I swear if they have her saying I don't want to remember I will scream!

Rafe: He hit the nail on the head today when he said: "I wish that this case [the Charlie murder] would just go away." So would most of the viewers. The writers have really outdone themselves this time, crafting a whodunit that nobody cares about.

Shawn & Belle: Color these two pathetic. He's a cop (sort-of) and she's a lawyer (third-rate) and they can't figure out what legal steps to take against the awful Jan Spears?

Doll-in-Blanket: The mighty doll has really gone beyond the call of duty: handling a demanding scene with a cooing Sami Brady and being accused of depriving a poor teddy bear of its eye.

Duke the Teddy Bear: Instead of sewing its eye back on, Nicole should have sewn an eyepatch and renamed it Patchy Bear. Steve would have loved it.

Have we only passed one day in the last week? I feel like the Ciara story has been one day but the other stories are working on a faster timeline.

Thanks, robin.

What an odd show today.

The strangest thing about Henry in the blanket is that Sami put him in the playpen
all wrapped up. He might suffocate that way.

John wants Jan in jail no matter what happens to him.

Why did Nicole take off her coat when she and Ava was outside? She was wearing
a nice dress.

Ben needs to find a Romeo and Juliet book. That might help Ciara remember.

I'm so dense, I never realized children can't be on the set. Thanks for enlightening me! Nicole hardly looks like herself with her hair all pulled back.

I wrote him last week & said it was too bad Dude wasn't able to do April Fool show, as it would have been hilarious. He "liked" the comment. LOL....

They haven't had any babies/kids on the set since covid hit.

Y&R and B&B just started using their kiddie actors again, but they do their scenes alone on the set and then those scenes are blended into scenes with the adults. If the kiddies have to stand next to, or embrace their TV parent(s), the kids' real life parents are taped with the kid, only shot from behind, or from the neck down (wearing the same clothes as the TV parent), then the scenes are blended to look as though the kid is hugging or standing next to the TV parent.

For the most part though, they just say the kids are upstairs, outside, visiting grandma/grandpa/auntie/uncle, at school, on a playdate, etc. And they also use recorded sounds of kids playing or saying things like "bye-bye mommy/daddy", etc. as the TV parent calls out the door to them. (example: if the kid is supposed to be playing in the yard, they have a recording of a kid saying something like "mommy, look at the flower I picked" and the TV mom, standing at the door and "watching" the kid, replies "oh, that's beautiful, honey"; or if the kid is going somewhere with someone, they'll use a recording of a kid saying "bye mommy" as the TV mom stands at the door and says "Have a good time with Auntie So-and-So")
