2-18-2016 - Donuts & Sun

Good morning. Today is the first I've seen of the sun in days, nearly a week. Still cold, supposed to get to 46° today but 60s this weekend before another bitter snap and possible snow again next week so... I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

I hope you get to feeling better, Noel!

Good morning all. Sunny with a high of 54°. We will also have a weekend in the sixties.

I hope your headache gets better.

I had a headache yesterday and all last night. My stomach was up upset and I was sweating under the covers even though my thermostat was down to 60°.

I keep getting a bill saying I did not pay a toll. I have a personalized license plate so they must be comparing it to my old plate or something. I do not live anywhere by toll roads and I have submitted a written dispute multiple times. There is no human contact to cry to so I am just like whatever.

I had a few slices of bacon to quell my nausea this morning. Greasy foods or egg drop soup are what makes me feel better after a headache or hangover.

Lunchtime will be fresh pineapple and dinner is my friend bringing over CookOut.

http://m.cookoutnc.com

They have a burger tray with two sides and a drink for like five bucks. Real hamburger and mad side selection. Can substitute a milkshake for the drink with a slight upsurge. Totally worth it. The milkshakes are the bomb.

Sometimes I feel like I need more real life friends but then the real life people are so draining and needy I have to go back into hermit mode. Thankfully I always feel appreciated and supported online so no depression or anything lol.

Good day to you all.

Good morning all. Well, I know I just told you of my 10-15 below zero mornings, etc. Guess what. This a.m. is it 24, to go perhaps above 32, and R A I N! Yep, and tomorrow as well. Have no idea what the heck mother Nature is up to, but this is unreal. And of course, this is the weekend that big ski race is going to be going on up north, on Saturday. LOL. Probably will need ice skates instead of skis.........

YPG....Years ago I was getting letters from a book club, (I had sent the books back, unopened, as had not ordered them) , so I finally wrote a letter to "the computer", saying that since I wrote to humans which did not work, that perhaps Computer would be able to fix the problem, since that is where the letters originate.
I don't know who opened that piece of mail, but it must have made them smile, and check, and fix.......because never got another dunning letter. LOL

Cloudy, overcast, have dr. appt. Take care all.

Good Morning,

Nothing too exciting going on here. My husband let me know last night that his mom has asked the Pastor to come to her house to give her last rights. He said she seems to be declining every day, which is sad. But I think she's ready for the pain and misery to end. All the events she was looking forward to have happened and now I figure she's decided she's ready to g. Not that it's any easier on the family. :(

Noel & YPG - feel better

MissHQ & Barb - enjoy the warm up.

JS - good job on that bill. :)

Have a wonderful day.

Morning. It is a nice morning. It won't be as warm as yesterday, but it is still way above what normal for around here.

The office has an ice cream party for our first triple day, and then ice cream stays in the fridge until summer's over. Generally drumsticks, sandwiches, and the such. Every year I'm convinced to purchase healthy fruit-based popsicles and every year I throw out the remaining 5 from a box of 6 due to freezer burn. Cracks me up. But it does worry me that I may be supplying the office from March on. Not me personally, I just shop for it. I expense the cost.

Several years ago I had a credit card with a bank that shall remain nameless. I went into said bank said I want to pay off the card and close it out. I HAD cash. The very nice teller got the final payoff amount. I gave the bank the cash and closed the card. Then the next month I got a bill for closed credit card for $2.00. Not a lot of money, but still, the account was closed and I had gone INTO the bank to get the correct amount to pay off the dang thing.

So since the account was closed, I had to go back into the bank. This time I went to the manager and explained the entire thing. And she said don't worry about it, it's a mistake, I'll take care of it. I knew I was in trouble then. And YES, the next month I got a bill for the $2.00 plus a fine for $25.00 for lack of payment.

I had been a good client, never missed a payment, always paid more than what was due for the 10 years I had done banking with them and never bounced a check. So back to the branch manager who, of course, didn't remember anything, till I brought out the paperwork that she signed under the comment "don't worry about this". So she asked me to go online and pay. I asked how, as the account is closed.

Before this entire episode ended, I had 4 months of non-payment of a bill I may or may not have owed. And the balance for the closed account, before it was finally taken care of. But it took several trips to the bank and HOURS of time explaining and showing the documentation from month to month to month.

YPG, I love fresh or even canned pineapple. Alas, the acid in it does not agree with me. Enjoy a piece for me please!!!!

Have a great Thursday, all.

Good morning all,

Sunny out, mostly, and to be 34F.

Went to bootcamp this morning for the first time in weeks. It was nice to be back! Came home and showered, made a protein shake, ate breakfast, and took a nap. Now I'm about to go to school and then work is right after. Busy day.
JS, you belong in Rew's corner, you naughty, scheming gal!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Just kidding. That story is hilarious though.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Today it's sunny and should be in the 70s. I'll be outside. I need to put
mulch on the plants before they get too tall. It's hard putting mulch
under them.

My town has new garbage company and we all have to have the same
size garbage can. Too big for me since I put out a kitchen bag every
two weeks. (I recycle everything I can.) Anyway, the trash cans (one for
trash and one for recycling) are so big I'll have to move my car to take
them in and out. oh well, at least they fit in the same spot.

manda, prayers for your family.

Noel, I hope you're feeling better.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the day.

Some of the magazine subscription renewal schemes are getting hilarious. A Popular Mechanics issue recently arrived. Included in the wrapper was a bill for renewal that amounted to a dunning letter. My current subscription expires in June, 2017. Have been reading PM since I was 10, but the current version wouldn't make a pimple on the old magazine's tail! :( The biggest favor they could do for me would be to scan the first 100 years in their archives, and sell them in CD form. If National Geographic can do it, so can they! Rant over! :back:

Many, I fear. It really amounts to the magazine asking us for a loan. I used to read Mother Earth News, and they offered a lifetime subscription for a lump sum ($100, I think,) which appeared a really good deal. Unfortunately, the magazine's lifetime was not very long.

Regarding nude photos, I took a picture of my grandsons playing out in their back yard this past May. They were in the sprinklers, ah, without clothes. I went to get the photos printed so I could frame them, and Walgreen's refused, saying they were kiddie porn.

It was kinda scary for a minute, as I thought of the damage to me, for snapping a shot of their bare bottoms as they played in the sprinklers. I had no intention of posting them anywhere. Just two blond kids dancing. I do back Walgreen's refusal to print kiddie porn. It was just a bit spooky to look at the pictures in that frame of mind and not of Grandma with cute pictures.

Good afternoon everyone. A cold but beautiful day here filled with sunshine. I worked at 3 schools today, and I'm tired. I parked myself at my desk to do the reports when I got back, and haven't moved since.

I'm right there with you about the very early magazine renewals or startups that are made to look like bills. Consumer Reports has been sending renewals letters to me for months, but my subscription doesn't run out until July, 2017 ! Those notices go right in the shredder along with the ones for magazines that I've never purchased and never will.

A. Guy - I didn't know that Popular Mechanics was still in print. The old ones were a God send after my Dad died when I was 16. My Mom and I learned how to fix a lot of things from the ones my Dad had.

JS - One of the advantages of having the bills go to a lawyer is that once they are given a final amount and it is paid, (In Pennsylvania) a company can no longer bill for another penny. It doesn't matter if the billing company gave an incorrect amount or not.

LOL, JS, you go girl!

I went to the nursing home this morning for the meeting concerning my mother's discharge. Mama was required to stay in bed most of the time due to the blood clot, so has just started physical therapy to strengthen her legs. They decided to keep her for an additional week or two, though she will have to pay for what Medicare won't cover when it runs out. Better safe than sorry.

My dad was parked near the nurses' station on an adjacent hall, so I took him to visit Mama in her room (that didn't last long). Another man sitting there with my dad told me "fingers", bless his heart. My dad had let his hand drop to the big wheel on the wheelchair as I was pushing him away. His hand could have gotten caught. Anyway, Mama is ok with staying a little longer and is beginning to accept she can't take care of my dad at home.

Beautiful day, in the 70*s, so play time! LOL

Take care.

Think how the magazine companies could charge much less for the subscriptions if they didn't send out all the propaganda with your magazine.

When my Mom died and I was having an issue with the nursing home, my attorney told me to write final payment on the check and if they cashed it, it was a done deal! Never had any problems so I don't know if it would of held up in court?

Kt, sorry your Mom can't come home yet but maybe the PT is a good thing!

Overcast and 50 today - can't beat that for February.

KT & RS, keep an eye out at yard sales for a set of those Popular Mechanics (and others) hard bound encyclopedia sets. They sold through the mail for around $25 per volume; you can usually buy the entire set for about $15. Most of the contents are right out the magazines, and are sans advertising. I, unfortunately, also have quite a few of the original issues.

Also don't go to different pharmacies with all of those schedule 2 pain prescriptions........the pharmacies have to report to the state. You just might find the state boys knocking on your door. Yep.......happened to some of our clients (3 businessmen and a doctor) when I worked in pharmacy.

Reason 724 That Some People Should Not Be Allowed Near Computers
Remember my computer / printer episodes with my friend? Well she called just as I was walking in the door after work.

Friend saying in nasty voice: Don't bother coming early before the game dinner Saturday to hook up my printer!

Me: Why? (Thinking someone else did it.)

Friend (even nastier) : My computer's dead! You broke it!

Me: What do you mean by dead?

Friend: It won't turn on.

Me: Is the power light below the mouse pad lit?

Friend: Yes, it looks green.

Me: Unplug everything from your computer including the power cord. (She does) Now hold the power button down for 10 seconds.

Friend: Nothing happened.

Me: Did you hold it for 10 seconds?

Friend: Yes. I counted to 10 then let go. (I bite my tongue)

Me: Go get a watch or clock with a second hand.

Friend: There's a clock with one on the wall here. (I smack my forehead)

Me: While looking at the clock, push and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then let go.

Friend: OH! Something is happening. Wait , Windows is loading. OK, it wants my password. There are my icons!

Me: Did you close your laptop when you were finished using your computer the last time.

Friend: No, I left it open.

Me: Did you go to the Start menu, and click on Sleep?

Friend: No, I clicked on Hibernate.

Me: If you ever click on that again, I'm taking away your computer! Just close the damn laptop from now on.
