Actor Lucas Adams has joined the cast of Days of our Lives in the role of Tripp, reports the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest. He debuts in early 2017.

Serial Scoop can confirm that Adams will play the son of Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Ava (Tamara Braun).

Will Tripp cause problems for Steve and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans)? Stay tuned!

Adams is best known for his role as Josh in Liv and Maddie. His other credits include roles in True Blood, Grimm, and Recovery Road.

I thought he looked like a Will recast as well when I saw his picture.

So apparently the character of Tripp is not a speculation as we thought awhile back after seeing that youtube clip an auditioner put up.

Since he's related to Steve and not Kayla, he could actually be a love interest for either Ciara or Claire (if he takes more after Steve than Ava).

Considering the show went to the trouble of bringing Shelley Hennig (Stephanie) back for the wedding, I think this one will take. Plus, Dena pretty much said they would at Day of Days.

While I applaud the effort to expand the teen set, I have no interest in seeing Ava resurrected.

Indeed. Can't the writers bring a new character without him being related to someone, without him being an unknown son ? Hey, maybe he could have been a student transferring from another university because of a very bad case (although all cases are bad) of bullying, after an attempted suicide, maybe. Or maybe, he could have been involved in an accident that killed both his parents and the poor guy just had to get away to start a new life without the bad memories. Or maybe, he just moved to Salem because his parents heard about the Salem money tree and wanted to have the chance to pick the leaves. Oh, so many possibilities, but nooooooooo. Let's make him Steve's son !:angry::beat::beat:

Oh, great ! Another long lost kid. I can't get enough of those ! :sarcasm:
Agree, enough with the long-lost kids. For me, Psycho Summer was the last straw. And how can the writers lay more woes on poor Kayla? Right now, not so long after being terrorized by Orpheus, she's dealing with Adrienne's medical condition, Steve stressing over his sister's condition, and the Jade-Joey follies. Now, she's reminded in a very tangible way of her husband's past involvement with the awful, deranged Ava. What next, a plot in which Kayla can't take it any more and suffers a nervous breakdown? :sarcasm:

You never know. These writers like to repeat their own stories so why not do another mental illness one.

We already have:

2 pregnancies: Jade and Chloe
2 cancer stories: Stefano and Adrienne
2 men with doppelgangers of former loves: Deimos/Nicole and Roman/Hattie
2 baby boys with "single" dads: Brady and Chad

Heck why not have another mental illness story too?

Dr. BakerFan, I think we may need a new thread for all these duplicate stories...

Wait, is this the same actor who we saw in the YouTube clip?

And why Tripp? Isn't that short for 'the third'? Granted, Ava didn't name him, so I guess he could be a third.

But basically, is anyone actually surprised about this? Show of hands of who actually believed the baby died.

Steve and Ava have a son? Oh for the love of....

But on the other hand, this does add someone new to the young crowd of Salem. Who isn't blood related to Ciara or Claire.

They could be redoing history somewhat and creating brothers Joey and Tripp as enemies like Steve and Jack once were. I could see Tripp more for Claire than Ciara.

I also thought he was a Will recast until it said early 2017. So perhaps he either shows up at Steve and Kayla's wedding or sometime after. Oooh Stephanie may meet her half brother Tripp too!

It does look like the same kid who was in the YouTube video.

Tripp is just a name, it isn't short for anything here in America. Right now, probably the most known use of the name is Sarah Palin's grandson, Tripp (Bristol's little boy).

So, in the last what, 1-2 years, we've gotten 4 unknown children of Days families. Paul, son of John. Lani, daughter of Abe. Summer, daughter of Maggie. And now Tripp. Oh, and let's not forget that Valerie's son will be coming as a surprise to David Banning and Julie and Doug, so does that make 5?

I don't know about you, but I can honestly say that none of my circle of family and friends have been surprised with an unknown child. And here this little group is working on their 5th in a year. 6th if we add Daniel & 7th for Melanie (right? Melanie didn't know who her folks were initially either). Horrible. I get it, it's hard to write original material 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year and for 50+ years. But enough is enough. Absurd, just truly absurd.

Let's see, going back to Jessica Blake being Marie's grown daughter (Marie knew she gave birth, but did it secretly and placed the child in a convent).

Stefano being father to Renee, Lexie, Chad and Andre were all surprises (he knew he was father of Megan, Benjy and EJ; and Tony, sort of)

Cassie and Rex being the children of Roman and Kate, carried by Marlena.

Lucas being a surprise son to Bill Horton.

Billie and Austin (although Kate knew she gave birth to them, she thought they were dead)

Melanie being Daniel and Carly's surprise child.

Daniel being Maggie's eggbaby.

Summer being Maggie's daughter.

Brandon and Lani being Abe's children.

Paul being John's son.

Isabella and Bo being Victor's children.

Chelsea being Bo and Billie's daughter.

Eve being Shane and Gabrielle's daughter.

Paige being a secret Hernandez child.

Roman was surprised by Carrie, as he thought a pregnant Anna died in the boating accident.

Eli Grant is the son of David Banning and Valerie Grant.

Chloe being Nancy's secret daughter, later finding out she was Craig's daughter, too.

Nicky Alamain was thought to have died at birth, was later discovered to be Carly and Lawrence's son (but Vivian knew).

Donna Craig was Don Craig's surprise teenage daughter.

We can kind of count Quinn Hudson being Vivian Alamain's secret son, but it was only a secret to the viewers, not her.

And now, Steve has a surprise son, Tripp.

I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I could think of at the moment.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really?!?!?!?! Salem needs new blood and characters that have connections to people that are not forgotten/didn't know about children turning up. Can the writers not just have some friends from some people's lives just show up in Salem?? How about a few friends of Abby's from the time she lived in Ireland......and NOT her nanny, or characters from Chloe and Brady's past from living in Europe!! OR......OR.......I give up. Guess baby storylines and children coming out of the woodwork is what Days thinks they know how to do.

:OT: I have an uncle who lives in Australia that had a son pop out of the woodwork. He called him, as an adult to let him know that he thought my uncle was his father, gave him the story of his mother after she left the town they were living in, so when he came back to Canada for a visit they made arrangements to meet up and have a DNA test done. Turns out they both knew they didn't need that as he looks like my uncle almost to the tee. My uncle also had two children who I knew growing up but they had a sister they never knew about. My siblings and I always knew about her as my mother kept in contact but my two cousins in Australia never knew about her until they were in their early 20's. SO they not only found out about a half sister, 5 years later they also found out they had a half brother but to be fair to my uncle he never knew about their half brother.

Well, won't that make for some interesting family dinners when Tripp finds out his new half-brother Joey killed his biological mother, Ava.

I think Salem needs a "Parents of Surprise Children" support group.
