I was also watching it back then - I remember that I couldn't believe they would kill off Marlena.

Yes, I remember it being all over the news. None of us could believe that Days would get rid of Marlena. What a ratings boost that s/l was. But back then Days was a top rated soap.

If people had read the credits that day, they would have know it was Samantha not Marlena. I listen to WGN radio in Chicago and they discussed it. A lady called and revealed the truth.

I remember it happening. I was so sad when I thought it was Marlena that died. I was home sick and saw her die. I was at school when we found out that it was Sam that died and that Marlena was alive. It was the first thing my Mom told me after school. I was so happy that Marlena was alive that I did not care that Sam was dead.
