Clyde has no problem killing whoever gets in his way. Ben is a serial killer. If Chad is such a big obstacle for Ben's happiness with Abby, why didn't Clyde or Ben just kill Chad?? "Accidents" happen all the time.

Ben could think Chad would be put to death, or in prison for life, or perhaps that Chad would die when another person takes revenge, or when the police have him surrounded.....or some such. Ben apparently seems to be not thinking rationally.
Bet we could all come up with a dozen or more reasons....

Ben's reasoning could be that death was too quick for Chad. If Chad were to spend his life in prison, Ben could torment him by making sure he knew how happy he and Abby were raising a family and whatnot.

Ain't that the truth. And if Ben had done more research, he'd have learned that DiMeras are rarely convicted of anything, and if they die, they are highly likely to come back to life. In other words, his attempt to take out Chad was doomed from the start.
