I don't know if the character of Abigail is returning, but knowing these shows how can she not? Seems almost inevitable I'd think to break up the Chad/Stephanie pairing.
I was thinking of a potential story involving Brady/Stephanie/Alex/Jeannie Theresa.
Stephanie is technically older than Brady as she was born in 1988 and Brady was born in 1992. Eric Martsolf (Brady) is almost 20 years older than Abigail Klein (Stephanie) however. Be that as it may what if they did split Chad/Stephanie and went with a Brady/Stephanie/Alex triangle and essentially Stephanie chooses Brady over Alex? Just as Brady and Stephanie become a couple Alex (who is related to Brady) plots to lure back Brady's ex Jeannie Theresa which then sets off a Brady/Stephanie/Jeannie T. triangle. Stephanie and Jeannie are cousins just as Stephanie and Abigail are.
