I didn't know Rod Arrants (who played an assassin on Dallas as well as other sleazy-type roles) was on Days. Looking into Richard Cates now....

This is awesome!!! I only found out last week that Josh Taylor (Chris/Roman) was actually a JD but didn't practice law. I was trying to hunt down episodes of The Hogan Family. Pretty cool. Thanks Jason!

Richard Cates was a crooked chief of police. He met Marlena after Roman "died" (the first time) and wooed her. He had a little boy named Kevin. It eventually came out he was crooked (but not after he killed a bunch of people). As he was dying, he asked Marlena to take care of Kevin. I think Kevin was shipped off to boarding school, never to be heard of again.
Rod Arrants (Richard Cates) was part of a super-couple on Search For Tomorrow (Rusty and Liza) before coming to Days.
