Nathan is at the pier and Melanie shows up. He litters his coffee cup. Melanie tells him he doesn't look good. He says it's because if Jennifer would have died it would have been all of his fault.

Maggie is in Jennifer's hospital room. Doug and Julie walk in and ask how she is. Maggie said Daniel said the prognosis is good. Doug comments that he cannot believe that poor kid went through. Julie says if they had lost Jennifer she doesn't think any of them could have gone on.

Will and Gabi are decorating the loft for Sydney's birthday party. Rafe and Johnny are going to be coming home. Gabi wonders if they should make Rafe a banner too. She comments how she was so scared. Will understands. Gabi says today feels like it is her birthday too and Will says let me be the first to wish you Happy Birthday and they kiss.

EJ wakes Rafe up by banging on the table. How was his first night? There will be no breakfast this morning but that is ok as Rafe is used to roughing it. Rafe asks how he thinks he will get away with this. EJ says he does. Rafe tells him that Sami will notice that he is gone from the hospital. EJ tells him that Sami is not too worried about him.

Rafe2 is in the hospital signing out. Sami walks in. She asks what he is doing and he says getting the hell out of there. Sami asks if his doctors ok'd it and he says he is fine. They hug. Sami is happy to bring JOhnny home too today and she is going to take care of them both. What a day and Rafe hugs her and says yeah, what a day.

Nicole is at the DiMansion when the phone rings. It's Lexi. (Taylor is in the background playing with Theo). Lexie tells Nicole that she has a problem. She is covering for another Doctor and Abe got called into the police station for a meeting so she doesn't think they will be able to make it to Johnny and Sydney's party. Lexie apologizes. Said she tried to call EJ but it went straight to VM. Not to worry. Nicole will deliver the message. Lexie tells Nicole that it;s been a pretty eventful night. Nicole offers to come pick up Theo. Lexie says he is fine and as a matter of fact he is with...Taylor stands up and silently pleads to Lexie not to tell Nicole and Lexie abruptly changes the subject and says she has to go. Again, sorry. Lexie looks at Taylor. Nicole hangs up the phone and says damn it EJ, where are you? What would make you late for your own daughter's birthday?

Rafe suggests that Sami maybe got a message from him saying he had to leave on important police business or checked himself out of the hospital? And while EJ has him locked up that EJ is going to make a move on her? spend time with her? EJ laughs at the idea. He thinks it's about time that Rafe considers another career because his theory of what happened could not be more wrong.

Sami, Rafe2 and Johnny are in the hospital nurses station and Sami tells Johnny as soon as they get his perscription, they are outta there, Rafe2 says that sounds like a great idea. His brother and sister are going to be so excited for him to come home. Sami says that Allie has a special surprise for Johnny and won't tell anyone what it is or what it looks like. She is super excited. Rafe says this day is going to be a great day isn't it tiger? Johnny says no it is not and Sami asks why not and Johnny says because of him, and points at Rafe2.

Melanie and Nathan are sitting on benchie. She asks how is what happened to Jennifer his fault? He tells her he gave her Hopes message. Melanie asks if she can ask him a question. Wouldn't that make it Hopes fault? She says that Hope does no wrong, but she is a cop so she had to know what she was dealing with. She sent her cousin into a place full of murderers and con artists and she got Nathan to do it for Melanie's two cents and Hope is the one who should be feeling guilty this morning. Nathan asks if this is her way of trying to make him feel better, it isn't working. She says ok, she knows something that will. She motions for him to go with her and he takes her hand and they leave.

EJ tells Rafe that he doesn't have any designs with Samantha & he is going through with his marriage to Nicole. Rafe says he does. This has to be about Johnny and Sydney. Rafe says today is Sydney's birthday and he is there and he doesn't think it is a coincidence. EJ tells Rafe that this is a very happy day. Samantha signed the custody agreement, Johnny comes home today and Samantha is having a shin dig at her place well, your place, but too bad Rafe wouldn't be there to blow out the candles but EJ will be there. EJ tells Rafe he isn;t even going to be missed. Rafe lunges off the bed and at EJ through the bars. EJ laughs at Rafe.

Johnny tells Sami that he wants him to leave too. Rafe2 tells him he will leave. THey are both getting out of the hospital. Johnny says this makes him happy. Sami and Johnny leave to get the prescription. Sami asks Rafe2 if he is coming. He says yes and awkwardly gets up.

Taylor is telling Lexie she doesn;t want Nicole to know she is still in Salem. Taylor talks with Theo for a minute. She tells Lexie that Nicole thinks that Taylor is on a bus, on the way to visit their mom. She promised Nicole she would. Lexie doesn't get why Nicole wouldn't want her sister around.

Nathan and Melanie are in uniform and walk into Jennifer's room. Melanie says her vitals are good, heart is good, look at her charts. Nathan says her pulse is steady, heart is regular. Melanie says thank God Daniel showed up. Nathan turns around and says thank God you showed up. She wasn't too shabby herself, assisting him all by herself like that. Especially with everything she is going through. HE tells her she is amazing and thank you. She seems flattered. Nathan gets paged and asks her if they can have that talk? About the future. About them? She looks nervous and Melanie shakes her head yes. Nathan leaves.

Sami, Rafe2 and Johnny arrive at the loft. Sami notices some new thing called a speak easy installed by the superintendant on the door. Will comes running out to see Johnny. He hugs him. Rafe2 shakes Will's hand, he is glad to be there. Rafe2 seems really uncomfortable at Gabi hugging him. Sami says Rafe is alright, they are all finally alright. Gabi says thank God, while still hugging Rafe2 and he just huffs out a yeah with a awkward smile on his face. Gabi is telling Rafe2 he looks a little out of it. Sami tells Rafe2 to sit down and that Gabi is in charge of him and Will is of Johnny. Will brings him to see Allie. Gabi tells Rafe2 that he immediately needs to call mom cause she has tons of questions. Rafe2 says he will all her after the party. Sami tells him that she has been really upset and none of them can calm her down. Rafe2 looks flustered and says he just can't do it right now, ok? Sami and Gabi look worried.

Melanie asks Maggie that she talked to Nathan. He told her that he still wants to be with her. He doesn't care that the baby is Philips. He wants to be a part of her life and the baby's. Maggie asks her how she feels about that. Melanie says she doesn't know yet, She is a little freaked out since the divorce proceedings haven't even started yet. Maggie tells her to make sure that this is exactly what she wants this time. Melanie says she will. Maggie says she was reminded of something last night. That life is so precious and so is love so if something feels right, don't let it slip away.

Taylor tells Lexie that they had different childhoods. Nicoles was a nightmare and Taylor's was easy. It was totally drama free. Lexie tells Taylor what Paul did to Nicole was not Taylor's fault. Lexie gets a page. She asks Theo if Taylor walked him to the day care center. Theo doesn't respond. Taylor offers to look after him there until Lexie gets back. She says they bonded while Taylor stayed with them last night. Lexie thanks her and leaves. Tells Taylor it is nice having her around again!

Rafe2 says the thing about a concussion is that you don't remember stuff and if he starts talking to his mom and tells her that, she is going to think he got a brain tumor or something and keep him on the phone forever. Gabi agrees. He says plus today is for Johnny and Sydney and Sami. He promises Gabi he will call her after the party. Sami asks Gabi to check on Will, Allie and Johnny. Sami tells Rafe2 that maybe this was a bad idea and maybe she should have planned the party for a day other then the day Johnny and Rafe2 come home. He disagrees. She says obviously it is a lot and Sydney doesn't know what day it is and they can celebrate it next week. Rafe2 tells her everything will be fun and if people think he is a little out of it, people will understand. Sami reluctantly agrees. They kiss. Sami feels his neck and asks where it is? Why isn't he wearing it? Rafe2 doesn't know what she is talking about. She says the key. You know, the one I gave you for Christmas. He rubs his neck and says he doesn't know, he must have lost it at the hospital. Someone knocks on the door. It's EJ, Sydney and Nicole.
Rafe2 tells them some things are still fuzzy but Sami says it's ok. She takes Sydney from Nicole.
 
Melanie tells Lexie there is no sign of infection. Thank God cause there couldn't have exactly been sterile conditions in that prison. Melanie says she will keep an eye on her. Lexie tells Melanie to thank Daniel because a lot of people love that woman in there and she is one of them. Thanks Melanie and leaves. Nathan walks up behind Melanie and asks if they can talk.

Julie is telling Jennifer that no one is ever going to hurt her again. Please come back to them. Doug says this room is enough to make anyone want to sleep, Go to the gift shop and get some flowers to cheer it up. He asks Maggie to come and she says no she will stay, Doug hints he wanted Julie to have some alone time with Jennifer and Maggie leaves with him. Julie is crying.

Rafe pulls the key out of the bed frame. He is thinking different scenarios of what Sami knows in his head. He lays down holding the key in his hands.

EJ hands Johnny a present and Johnny says it isn't his birthday. EJ tells him it is the day he came home to them day. Johnny opens a new pair of ice skates. Johnny keeps saying wow. Nicole walks over and tells Sami they got her something too and hands it to her. Sami si shocked. They got her a photo album cause they got Sydney's two year old portraits done and Nicole got copies for her. Sami says isn't that special. She is mad and tells Nicole that she is Sydney's mother and she does those things. EJ looks at Rafe2 and Rafe2 says Sami, Sami, you got a lot on your mind. The pictures got taken and that's the important thing and next year she will take Sydney. Sami says he is right and thanks Nicole.

Melanie tells Nathan there isn't going to be a talk. SHe already told him that. He tells her that he heard her. He just didn't believe her. He says he knows she still has feelings for him and she asks him not to talk about it there. He says ok, take a break, something, he doesn't care. Let's just go. Melanie says ok. They leave.

Julie tells Jennifer that she is just retreating from the world for a while. Julie agrees but for the rest of them the world is not such a wonderful place when Jennifer is not in it. Please come back and let her and Maggie make her oatmeal cookies and tea. Abigail and JJ. Tell them how much they love her and need her. She cries for her to please, please, wake up. Doug comes back with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Taylor and Theo are playing goldfish. It's real sweet. Lexie comes in and sees them but Taylor tells Lexie she needs to go now or she will miss the next bus out of Salem and Theo says don't go, pleeeeease and Taylor seems touched.

Everyone is cleaning up the loft. EJ tells Sami it was a nice party and Sami thanks him for thinking of Allie and he says that's good, he didn't want her to feel left out. Sami apologizes about Sydney's two year pictures. She will just have to get used to things being different now. EJ brought birthday cards for them to both sign together for the kids. Nicole is pouring juice in cups and Rafe2 is drinking a beer and tells Nicole to name her poison. Nicole looks stunned and says vodka martini. Rafe2 grabs another beer from the fridge and hands it to her. She says, very funny, She thanks him for stepping in on the pictures thing when Sami was getting angry. He says no problem. She comments that she noticed him and EJ are getting along. She guesses those two teamed up when Sami wasn't looking.

Melanie and Nathan walk into the pub. Nathan asks her if she is sure this is where she wants to talk. Melanie says yes. Nathan thinks it is a little public and Melanie looks around he says which is what you planned because you are afraid to be alone with me. Melanie says that is not true and he says no? She tells him that he needs to understand that she wants Philip to be a part of their child's life. Nathan says that is fine. He just wants to be with her to make her happy, if that makes her happy. She tells him she knows he says and believes that but the situation is more complicated and she doesn't know if he can handle it. He asks if she thinks if he is playing with her. She says no, when she chose Philip, did he go after Stephanie this same way? He says that was a mistake, but he didn't know it at the time and he did everything in his power to think that it was what he wanted. Melanie says she is not pointing fingers as she has made some bad judgment calls too and he agrees, they have both screwed up and he knows they will do it again in the future too, but only together. He says he knows that they are not a mistake.

Lexie is playing cards with Theo. Lexie wins. Theo is happy. Taylor comes back. Theo is happy. There is a big storm in Chicago and her bus never even made it to Salem. Lexie says that Taylor gets to stay with them for one more night. Everyone seems happy.

Rafe2 asks Nicole what EJ told her. She says nothing, it was just the way that Rafe2 handled Sami. The custody agreement and and the picture thing. It's weird. Like him and EJ planned that whole thing together. Rafe2 laughs and says Sami has to quit going off like that because it is just getting her into more trouble. He did what he did for the kids. Nicole says whatever you say. Sami jumps up off the couch in a huff and looks for her keys. In the excitement of picking up Johnny and Rafe she forgot the cake. EJ offers to get it. Sami gives him ridiculous directions and EJ cuts her off and asks if Rafe2 knows where it is? She says yeah, and he says ok, he will just take Rafe2 with him. Sami seems shocked. EJ tells her he is trying and asks Rafe2 if he wants some fresh air. Rafe2 immediately agrees. They kiss. Nicole says, so, it;s just ahh, you and me. Sami grabs a beer out of the fridge and apologizes to Nicole again for freaking about the pictures. Nicole says thank you for signing the custody agreement. She practically sold her soul to be with Johnny and Sydney and Sami says marrying EJ is selling your soul. Nicole cheers her and says you oughta know. Sami says, yeah I do, but I am going to find a way to make this work. For two very good reasons.
They are both making ribbons and talking about EJ changing. Nicole tells Sami that EJ is trying and Sami says it's hard for her to wrap her head around the fact that the 4 kids and Gabi are watching TV together and Rafe and EJ are out for a walk together. Nicole says that it is really weird. Sami says definitely but if they can do it, she can do it. They can make this work. They have to cause the children are always most important.

Maggie tells Doug and Julie she is going to go home for a while. She is tired. She kisses Jennifer and tells her they are waiting for her. Jennifer stirs and asks if she is late for school? Julie tells her no, she is right on time. Jennifer asks where she is. They tell her she is with them and they are not letting her go.

Melanie tells Nathan she is pregnant and she is dealing with Philip, his mother and her dad is going through hell because of something her husband did so anyone that is going to be with her has to be able to deal with that. Nathan says, you don't think I can be that guy? Melanie takes his hand and says sorry but she has to go and leaves the pub. Nathan looks sad and says of course he is going to have to prove her wrong.

Rafe2 tells EJ that he hopes he sure knows where this bakery is. They walk onto the pier. EJ says they will find it. Rafe2 asks if Sami always goes off like that EJ says yes, but you handled it very well. Rafe2 says he is quick on his feet (sounds like hints of a jersey kind of accent to his voice right now). He says that it hasn't been easy for him to come in like that. He didn't have much time to prepare. EJ apologizes and says that Rafe's accident was too good an opportunity and good news is he can use the concussion as an excuse for the memory loss. Rafe2 asks him if he knows anything about a key. EJ says it is probably just a momento. EJ says his answer of the hospital losing it was very smart. He will supply him with all the information he needs to be Rafe.

Nicole asks Sami if she should set a place for Sydney or get her plate ready? Sami is off in another place and Sami tells her she doesn't want to say this but her and Rafe have this thing where sometimes she can just tell he is thinking about her and she will call him and he is like OMG, I was just thinking about you. She says she can tell he is thinking about her right now.

Rafe is in the cell twisting the key in his hands. Thinking about it being Sydney's birthday and welcome home Johnny. Sami he doesn't know what she thinks happened to him, but he will always, always love her.

Next on DAYS:
Sami tells Nicole that EJ doens't love her and he never will.
Rafe2 asks EJ if there is something he needs to know about Sami.
Bo is holding Hope's hand and he tells her that from now on they will face things together.

Nathan is being a bit obsessive, no? But Melanie isn't being as direct as she needs to be so she is still her wishy-washy self.

Wondering why someone doesn't call Jack Deveraux. Doesn't he have a cell phone on his walkabout? He's still Jennifer's husband and should be told she was at death's door. Actually, on the other side of the door.
 
Wonderful writeup, missvicki. And kpatch has a point. Surprised no one has gotten in touch with Jack. If he writes a blog, then there should be a way to reach him.

Glad to see that Sami noticed the key is missing from Rafe's neck.

By the way.......wasn't Sydney born end of January? Like the 27th or something? Sort of a late birthday party, but that is o.k.
 
What a nice surprise! Thanks, Missvicki, good writeup. Did I understand correctly that Johnny had reservations about Rafe2 before even leaving the hospital? It will be fun if the little guy realizes something isn't right.
 
I want to know when Abby come to town and Jack is on walkabout then who the hell will have JJ.
 
My big beef with today....where the heck was Allie? Oh, sure, they spoke of her, but eveyone is in the living room opening gifts, and she is not there?? This is getting rather ridiculous, supposedly having her off in her room all the time.

She did not come out to greet Johnny, he had to go in to see her. She did not come to greet Rafe, who has been in the hospital (and of course she doesn't know he is Rafe2) .
 
@O.C. ,,,both of you.......No, no, Johnny only wanted Rafe to come home with them, too. He did not know Rafe was being released at the same time he was.
 
But they made it sound, at first, that he didn't want to go home with Rafe2.
I hope it is some foreshadowing and somehow Johnny will be the one to discover what is going on.. or at least find out there are 2 Rafe's floating around.
 
Thank you MissVicki. I missed the show on Friday, so I was very glad to see the summary up - even if I didn't have a chance to look for it until after I saw Monday's show.
