Ava is in the Tripp-Wendy apartment listening to a voicemail from Harris. He wonders if she’s seen his keys? She picks them up from the table in front of her and answers the door to see Stefan.
Sloan and Melinda talk about the baby. Melinda tells Sloan to keep her mouth shut. Sloan worries that as the baby grows up he might start to look like Eric and Nicole.
EJ comes into the hospital and looks at the Thanksgiving menu from the hospital. EJ says she won’t have to worry about it because she’s being discharged. He has her suitcase, which Nicole thinks has everything she packed for the baby’s delivery day. EJ tells her it only has her clothes in it now. In comes Dr. Pierce who tells them the autopsy was just completed and it was as they suspected, the death was caused from injuries due to the car crash. Nicole doesn’t understand since she held him and he was ok. Dr. Pierce says sometimes it’s delayed and there’s no way anyone could have known. Nicole says she should have known. EJ says not to blame herself, it was Dimiti who cause the accident. Even though he’s on the run, Leo is here and EJ will make him pay.
Harris comes into the interrogation room where Leo thinks he’s being released. Harris tells him DA DiMera plans on filing charges for murder.
EJ informs Dr. Pierce that he’s planning to file charges against Leo and may need him to testify that the vehicle where Leo was passenger was what caused their son’s death. Dr. Pierce says he’ll do what he can to help. Just as he is about to leave, Nicole stops him and says she wants to see their son.
Leo wants to know who he’s being charged with murder? Harris says EJ’s son. Leo thinks of Johnny immediately, but Harris says Nicole’s baby. Stunned Leo wants to know what happened to that beautiful baby?
Melinda says not to worry, the baby will grow up to look like himself and everyone will accept that he’s Sloan’s adopted baby. Sloan continues spiraling, Melinda tells her about what the doctor is doing now. Melinda tries to reassure Sloan.
Despite Dr. Pierce’s protests, both Nicole and EJ insist they want to see the baby. Flashback to Dr. Pierce’s conversation with Melinda. He tells them he’ll arrange it right away.
Stefan comes into the apartment telling Ava he heard about what happened to Gil Carter. She wants to know if they were friends? Stefan said he didn’t know him, but now that he’s gone she needs a new business partner and unfortunately that’s him. Ava seems confused, thinking it’s about the restaurant. Stefan tells Ava he knows everything and Clyde is using Gabi as leverage to make him work for him just like he’s using Tripp for Ava.
Leo describes the delivery and doesn’t understand how the baby died. Harris says it was the delay in getting medical treatment. Leo wants to know why Dimitri didn’t get him to the hospital, which Harris says they’d know if they could find him. However, since the death took place while they were on the run in a stolen police car, both perpetrators can be charged with felony murder. Leo says he needs to speak to his lawyer.
Eric walks in and Sloan tells him Melinda is on the phone and was just telling her, and he finishes the sentence “that you didn’t think you’d be a mother this way.” Sloan tells Eric that Melinda is on her way with their new son. They talk about how excited they are to have a family together.
Nicole tells EJ she understands if he doesn’t want to be there with her, but she needs this. EJ didn’t get a chance to hold their son and she’s sorry it has to be this way.
Dr. Pierce comes into Melinda’s apartment and tells her everything he feared is happening, that Nicole and EJ want to see their son. He asks her what are we going to do about it? Melinda says there’s no “we” since he took the money, which Dr. Pierce says he regrets and didn’t want to be part of baby trafficking. Melinda says she has a brilliant idea.
Stefan explains to Ava that Clyde wants to use DiMera to move the drugs through the Bistro. He’s not thrilled about the idea but says neither of them has a choice because he takes Clyde’s threats very seriously. Ava gives Harris’s keys to Stefan, which he says he’ll make a copy of and bring back. He says he’s not going to let Clyde use him for very long. Ava says she’ll let him know if she thinks of a way out of it. Stefan opens the door to leave and, guess who is standing there? Harris.
Eric says he wants to wait to announce the baby’s arrival given the timing with Nicole. She gets a call from Leo begging for her help. She says she’ll help but has to go because there’s a knock at the door. Melinda is holding doll-in-blanket and says “Happy Thanksgiving, you two.”
Nicole has put on regular clothes and EJ comes in. They’re waiting for the doctor to come back. She feels badly about how she treated Holly. Dr. Pierce arrives and says it’s not possible to see the baby because he was accidentally cremated.
Harris walks in and Stefan says he was there to see Ava’s son, and Wendy to remind them that what they saw isn’t what happened. Harris says that sounds like witness tampering. Stefan says he won’t let Gabi be charged with a murder she didn’t commit. He leaves. Ava is glad to see Harris. He asks if it’s hard being back in the apartment? She’s just glad she didn’t have to stay at the police station. They’re hopeful that when forensics gets back it will clear her and she won’t be charged. Harris says EJ is preoccupied with his son’s death. He needs to get back tot he station, but wonders if she’s seen his keys?
Leo flashes back to conversation with Dimitri about taking the baby to the hospital. Leo wants to know what happened to the baby?
The doctor tells EJ and Nicole that it’s standard procedure to send the baby immediately to the funeral home and he was mislabeled. He’ll arrange for the ashes to be sent to them. They yell for him to get out and cry. Nicole says she’s sorry. EJ says they’ll just have to hold him in their hearts.
Melinda asks if Eric wants to hold the baby, but he says Sloan should hold him first. Melinda leaves and says she’s happy to help out a friend. The baby cries while Sloan hold him. She says she’ll go make a bottle and Eric asks if he can hold him. No sounds from the baby when daddy holds him.
Ava says she hasn’t seen the keys and says she’s thankful for him and kisses him.
Melinda opens the door to the doctor coming in asking for more money. Melinda asks if he’s extorting her? He says go ahead and report me to the new DA, the one who said heads would roll if he found out who was responsible for his son’s death.
More grief tears and hugging from EJ and Nicole. She wants to get out of there. They leave the hospital room.
Eric looks at the baby and says you’re perfect. He asks if Sloan wants to try holding him again? The baby starts crying again. Sloan says he knows she has no idea what she’s doing. Eric says he’ll take him for a walk in the stroller. Sloan wants to stay at the apartment and wait for the delivery of a baby glider.
Stefan comes back into the apartment with a copy of the key. He says the hard part will be finding what evidence they have on Clyde’s associates.
EJ and Nicole are standing outside the Pub and she worries about how she will react if people ask how she’s doing. EJ says he’ll go in and pick up the food, that she can stand outside and wait. She holds her stomach and says “I miss you so much.” Eric comes around the corner with the stroller.
Melinda hands Dr. Pierce more money, justifying how she’s trying to help out a friend. Dr. Pierce hopes the plan doesn’t backfire. Melinda says she hopes she never sees him again.
Harris comes in asking if Leo spoke to his lawyer? Leo says he’s not worried about himself; he’s mourning the loss of the little baby.
Sloan is now talking to a stuffed animal about how she’s worried even the baby knows. She gets a text from Melinda that says it will all be okay. A knock at the door. Dimitri says “I’m back.”

Eric explains that Melinda brought him a little while ago and Eric thought he’d come show him off to his dad. Nicole asks if he minds if she holds him?
