Episode #10920 Director – Albert Alarr

OH, my gosh, a not to miss episode, set your VCRs, DVRs, etc. !!!
It is night, as Caroline arrives at the cemetery with a basket of flowers, visiting her husband’s gravesite. She tells him it is a beautiful night, just the kind he liked. What we see is her, but thru bushes and leaves, with the sound of heavy breathing. (Hitchcock would be proud!). She sits on the ground, telling Shawn how upset she has been over Max, his anger, how he is so confused and needs his real father, and that is “you, Shawn”, how upset she is that Trent came to Salem after abandoning Max, but that she has taken care of him.
And over to the Pub, where Max comes into his room, sort of out of breath, the room is dark. He looks at the sleeves of his shirt, which have blood on them, takes the shirt off as we hear a knock at the door. Stephanie calls to him, he quickly hides the shirt half way under some dirty laundry on the floor, grabs a clean shirt & having turned on the light, opens the door, as Stephanie kisses him hello, wondering where he has been. Downstairs, Nicole comes in, happy to find EJ sitting there, and frantically tells him about doing damage control, cuz Victor has learned of her marriage to Trent.

Now we are over at Chez Rouge with Bo & Hope arriving to meet Steve & Kayla, Maggie congratulating Hope on her appointment, & Hope breaking the news of turning it down, but that Bo is throwing his hat in the ring. Steve & Kayla arrive, hear that good news, and all 4 go to their table. Over at the bar, Melanie has arrived, tries for an alcoholic drink but the bartender cards her. She switches to something non-alcoholic, looks in her purse, takes out a wallet, pulling out Trent’s driver’s license, which she quickly hides as Nick comes up. Both are talking of having had taken care of something.

At the hospital, Kate arrives to meet Daniel, babbling about having to come over there when she is so busy, going on and on about how well her business is doing, not letting Daniel say a word. He finally shuts her up with a stern “Kate”. She stops, he lets her know she is seriously ill, she tries to brush off the little cold/cough but he won’t have any of it, saying she has to have a few more tests, she objects, he insists, Chelsea walks in, making some crack about Kate using any excuse to see Daniel. She goes on and on, giving both a hard time, no she won’t forgive either one, yada yada. Kate wants to talk to her alone, Daniel leaves. Kate tries to explain how she would never hurt her intentionally, especially after Billie & Nick, it was just something that happened, but Chelsea is not buying any of it, even tho Kate is shedding a few tears. Chelsea starts to walk away, Kate begins to cough, Chelsea stops & turns back, Kate makes light of it, Chelsea seems to realize it is not just a cough/cold. She leaves, Daniels returns. He tells Kate he has consulted with others, she wants him to just spit it out. He does. “You have lung cancer”.

At Chez Rouge, the 4 Musketeers talk about the Commissioner job Bo hopes to get, how he would be able to keep an eye on the dept. and especially the mayor, & learn if he is on Stefano’s payroll. Just then, the Mayor comes by, telling Bo there is no guarantee he has the job, Bo knows that, just happy he is being considered. The Mayor tells him he is under consideration, along with other candidates, & he will learn the decision eventually.
Maggie is talking to Mickey, all excited because the “Green Restaurant Assoc” has her under review to be accepted. She shows Mickey the website, enthused because she can use the logo if accepted, thinks it will bring more business, and yes, tis a big speech about “going green”. They kiss, Melanie spies them, telling Nick they should get a room, says it is yukkie to see old folks acting that way. Nick says THAT is sign of true and lasting love, then calls them over, introducing Melanie to his aunt and uncle. LOL. Maggie tells him the good news, he says they should celebrate, Melanie brightens up with the idea of champagne, but her face falls as Nick orders 4 club sodas, holding up his hand. Maggie is shocked, his hand is all bruised. He claims he did it in France, Mickey says they look fresh, Melanie claiming she doesn’t remember him injuring the hand in France.
Over at their table, Bo, Hope, Steve & Kayla are calling it a night, and leaving. Bo tells Hope that he’d like to first go visit Pop at the cemetery, that he doesn’t quite know what Pop might think about him going after the Commissioner job, but he wants to talk to him. Hope smiles and agrees. Melanie offers to buy Nick dinner for getting shot in France, sneaks some money from Trent’s wallet and follows Nick to a table.

Nicole is telling EJ all about Victor wanting all his money back, even what she spent already. They talk of going to trial, how Nicole never knew Trent had not gone thru with the divorce. She tells him that if he questions her about Trent on the witness stand, there would be real tears. He was a violent and abusive man. She talks of how her father got her into porn, she finds an out, and just makes her life worse. EJ says if Trent gets on the stand, he could paint her as an opportunistic gold digger. She replies he doesn’t have to worry about Trent, her dear departed husband won’t testify. EJ wants to know why she called him dear, departed. She claims that when the Board of Regents at their stuffy university will not look kindly on Trent trying to prostitute his daughter. EJ wants to know why she is acting as tho Trent will no longer be around, did she do something. Nicole avoids the question, seems in distress, then gets up, leaving, saying she is going to be sick.

Max & Stephanie are rolling around in the bed, trying for the scrumping record, it seems. Ha. One minute of afterglow, and there they go again. Finally, Max decides he wants to shower, she wants to join him, he says he will make sure the water is hot first, takes a while to get up there (I know what he means, LOL). As he gets up, she is horrified to see his back is all scratched and bruised, asking if she did that. He just teases her about being a tiger, and goes to the bathroom. Just a bit later, he calls the water is hot, she starts to get out of bed, wanting to check her messages first, delving into her purse on the floor, and spies Max’s blood stained shirt. She sits holding it, with a puzzled look on her face.

Bo & Hope arrive at the cemetery, exchange small talk with a couple of cops, who talk of it being a peaceful night, how the force is behind Bo’s quest for the Commissioner job. Caroline is sitting on the ground next to Shawn’s grave, saying “And that is what I did”. (The camera is going back and forth between Bo & Hope/cops and Caroline here) She gets up telling Shawn she has to get back to the Pub, hears a noise, sees a figure coming towards her. She asks who it is, then looks horrified, says something like”I thought I took care of you, what are you doing here?”. It is a man, he comes closer, she is in panic mode – don’t come any closer…….then “what is wrong with you”. Back to Bo, Hope & the cops chatting. They hear a scream and rush towards it. Caroline is on the ground, the man on top of her, she is screaming, get off, get off me, as she manages to push him off. She sees a big knife sticking out of his back, and taking short puffing breaths, manages to pull it out, all bloody. She looks at it, sobbing, wanting to drop it, but rolls the man over and we see it is Trent. She is still sobbing as Bo, Hope & the cops rush up, Bo is calling “Ma??” as they see the confused Caroline holding the bloody knife over Trent’s dead body.

The Previews show Hope reading from some sheet of paper with Steve standing next to her, as she says, “Besides the knife in the back, looks like Trent had one hell of a rough night” Steve’s voice is heard saying he must have ticked off a lot of people as the camera focus’s on Nick looking at his bruised hand and Melanie looking rather uncomfortable.
Stephanie asking Max why there is blood all over his shirt
Roman sliding the cell door shut on Caroline

Thanks, Poirot. It sounds good. For once I'm actually curious about what's going to happen!

Thanks for the write up. I saw the show before going to bed last night and then had trouble going to sleep. It was one great show. The acting was super. When I saw Trent on the ground at the end and Caroline was going to take the knife out of his back I wanted to yell don't touch the knife. You always leave a deep inbedded object in it helps to stop bleeding. They will remove it in the OR. Everyone looks quilty, but since Caroline was the one with him last I don't think it was her.

Hmmmm....

Sounds almost like the Clue game.

Shall I say Miss Charlotte, in the parlor, with the kitchen knife?

The game is afoot!

Oh Wow!!! We really have to guess who dun it huh??
Thanks for the write up! I think I have an idea as to what has happened, but I will keep it to myself for now & see how it all plays out!!
What a great episode!!
Thanks Barb!

@romagirl.....lol, as I was thinking as I watched the show.....that I would have that line "the game is afoot" as the last line in the summary.

That almostheimers must have kicked in, tho. :)

I was thinking the same thing when I read the summary. I know to leave in the object, mostly because my husband is/was a first responder. He was an security guard and now a cop (about to be medically retired) and has kept up his CPR and First Aid certifications until he got hurt last year. Some of the stories he tells about situations he's worked, wind up with him pausing and saying, "and you have to leave it in, it slows the bleeding...."

Sort of OT, but just last night, on Grey's Anatomy, a doctor slipped on some ice, fell, was laughing, and above her a huge icicle came down and stabbed her in the side. And all the doctors were admanant about leaving it where it was.

I was surprised at Caroline pulling out that knife. Her sons are policemen, and she just has to know about fingerprints, and how carefully they put evidence in plastic bags, wear latex gloves themselves, etc.

I don't think it's a major character because they would have to have a really good reason to keep from being convicted. It Trent raped Stephanie (or lopped off her hair) and she killed him, that would do it. I think Claude did it.

I just don't see it being Stephanie. That would screw up Kayla and Steve way too much. They could never accept it or get over it. And she already was raped last year. Don't think they would do that again.
Now they may have decided not to keep Melanie around after she wasn't well received, so perhaps she may be the one going.
I'm also wondering about Abe and Lexie. Wonder if Lexie may not be the one heading out? or both? Since they have changed her s/l.
I think in the end it will just be someone like Claude. My other guess would be Nick

It looks like a great show, I can't wait to get home to watch it. I'm SO glad I remembered to set my vcr this morning.

Peggy is such a great actress. Its been a while since I've been anxious to get home so I can see what happened.

I could almost see Stephanie as the killer given how obsessive she is about Max.

Thanks Barb!!!!

UMMMMMMMMMM KATHY LU THE SHOW GAVE A OFFICIAL ANNOUCMENT THAT THERE WOULD BE MAJOR CUTS, TWO FEMALE PARTS AND ONE VET.

The Killer isnt Claude...

I know about the announcement (and you really don't need to shout since my hearing is fine) and give no credence to it until I see it happen. Many of us know how misleading spoilers and articles such as these can be.

Regarding the killer: I don't think viewers are privy to the identity of the killer yet and wonder how one can be so sure it isn't Claude. The writers may not even know at this point.

LOL, and Kathy has a point. Trent (the actor) gave an interview saying how the storyline had changed abruptly, that Melanie was to get him into Gamblers Anonymous, and then the next script arrived with pink pages, which are rewrites, and there was Trent, trying to pimp out his daughter again.

And while we all can probably agree the killer is NOT Caroline....the killer is up for grabs. IF the killer is a major character, there will be a reason that will get them off, such as an attempt at bodily harm. But I am of the opinion that the killing of Trent was a professional hit. (sorry, but I am from chicago and that was how they dealt with welchers there)

But if it was a proffessional HIT why would they satb him with a kitchen knife, I really think the knife points to signs of the murderer being an amateur. Case in point stephaine....

I think it was a professional hit and that the killer has been watching and made sure it looks like one of the town people did it.

@Garrett.....did not look like a kitchen knife to me...tho admittedly I do not work in a pro kitchen.
and I agree with DJM

Welcome home Poirot, and thanks for the write-up.
Great show.

Why would Dr. Dan give Kate such devastating news right there in a public area of the hospital? Couldn't he find a consultation room or examination room to take her into? That would/should never happen.

I wanted to slap Chelsea today. After her initial confrontation with Grandma Kate today, I had to fast-forward the rest of her scenes.

Kristian Alfonso looked absolutely beautiful today. I liked how Bo mentioned that the promotion would mean a nice pay increase. It's lines like this that lend credibility to the show. It did, however, seem a little premature to go out and celebrate his new job.

Trent's murder seems like an Ides of March/Julius Caesar/et tu Brute scenario...everyone seems to have had a hand in the murder. We'll see how it plays out. The preview for Monday of Roman locking up his mother was heartbreaking. I hope they do this story justice. It has great potential.
