I didn't like Steve saying to Tripp "my family"--that sounds exclusionary. And what about Stephanie? When Tripp said "I've always wanted a brother", Joey should have said "Now you have one and a sister too".
Nice to see Adrienne. Nice to hear about the boys--I guess Sonny isn't going glamping. I guess she was treated as a true recurring character but we are not used to that since she has had a story for the past few months. However, Valerie who is actually on contract seemed to get the same treatment.
Can retired cops arrest people on their own?
Jade has had more air time this week than John, Marlena, Roman and Eric combined.

No. They can only make citizen's arrests, the same as someone who was never a police officer. The only right or responsibility that they have, that an ordinary citizen would not have is that they carry a concealed handgun, without having to get a conceal and carry license, as long as they qualify on a law enforcement fire arms range annually.
