Days of Our Lives - Thu., Apr. 5, 2018

Steve is such an independent son of a gun, that he would not even consider having "lessons". He would always want to just go it alone. .

It was interesting Abe was teaching how Steve to walk with his cane, but they kept
going up and down the same place. I don't think you can learn much doing that.
Also, Steve's hearing has improved to know he was talking to Stefan and he only heard
his voice in a newscast.
.

The thing is you can't even get a white cane without being properly measured for one by an Orientation & Mobility Specialist. They are NOT one size fits all. The length of the cane needed depends on a few body measurements and the length of your stride. Plus you have to go through an assessment for balance, agility, how fast you walk, and a few other things before receiving the cane.

Watched the episode. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Abe didn't know his butt from a hole in the ground with what he was doing with Steve.

Improved hearing in blind or visually impaired people is a myth. It only seems that way at times because they have to pay more attention to what they hear in order to gather information. For those of us who aren't blind, we receive 90% of the knowledge of our surroundings through our eyes.

I, too, am frustrated with the writing. The real Abigail, scared and confused, made an appearance long enough to talk to Marlena.

Marlena then first, takes a call and, second, steps out in the middle of this a intense reveal???? Yes, this is a soap but come on, now! Let’s inject just a little bit of real life behavior. This would never happen in a session with a psychiatrists.

The Baby story: From what I was hearing, I really was thinking that Lani lost the baby. I'm glad that she didn't because I think to do that now would be a such a cop-out. I know a lot of people were getting exasperated by JJ's constant hovering. Now it looks like that is going to be replaced by not only the constant hovering of Eli, but Abe as well. Is that really an improvement?

Aww, it looks like being met with constant hostility and suspicion is starting to hurt the Nameless One's feelings. I mean, he's spent all this time stealing DiMera Enterprises out from under Chad's nose, planing drugs on Chad in Hong Kong, framing Gabi for Andre's murder, and fixating on the non-existent creation of Abigail's fractured psyche, and just genuinely giving off a creepy vibe, only to find out that is not the way to make friends. Go figure.

Were we supposed to be surprised the revelation that Marlena was still talking to "Dr. Laura?" Because I wasn't. Those scenes were well-done, but were clearly plot-driven. I mean Marlena is a trained psychologist (or is she a psychiatrist? I always get that confused) with over at least thirty years of experience. Dr Laura is not. I just find it hard to believe that now that Marlena knows there are alters she would be so easily fooled.

Not an exciting episode but I enjoyed most of it. I couldn't stand the alters story until they put her with Marlena instead of Stefan. I was irritated when Marlena left the room for an emergency. That didn't make sense. I guess they had to find some way to drag the story out though.

I don't care for the Jennifer-Eric pairing but I thought he looked handsome today. It was good seeing him smiling and happy.

I'm sure there are ways of doing this but I kept wondering how would Steve use a cell phone if he needed to call someone. I have a hard enough time using the touch screens, even being able to see them.

When my friend had open-heart surgery, after a week, he was just sitting up in bed and allowed to dangle his legs over the edge (and needed help doing that much).

Everyone recovers from open heart surgery differently. I know of many people who were walking 1-2 days post-op and released from the hospital in under a week. While the show's depiction is far from accurate, it's also something that's a bit hard to generalize.

Walking after surgery is one thing, but be-bopping around the hospital in full hair and makeup (and pushing a baby in a carriage) a week after a heart transplant would never happen.

I had a total hysterectomy, done old-school abdominally, and they had me walking the next day (and by walking, I mean hunched over, holding on to the IV pole, taking baby steps). In my friend's case, he had quadruple bypass, cut from collarbone to practically belly button, and veins taken from both legs.

But bottom line, Days is rarely realistic about medical issues. From the quick recovery of heart transplants (with no scars) to Steve going blind and having a cane the same afternoon. Although, it's not just Days. The other soaps do the same thing when it comes to medical/health storylines.

Brady also recovered rapidly from his heart transplant, so rapidly, he flew out to California and dived into the ocean to rescue a would-be suicide. Carried her unconscious body back to shore. And with Brady, it wasn't even Dr. Dan, the miracle man, who did the surgery, but then again, it WAS Dan's heart. sigghhhh.

And there lies the rub.....for ALL or ANY of the residents of Salem, who eat, drink with no problem, anything and everything, despite the meds they should or maybe are taking. For all the problems that Stefano had, including his diabetes, the man was never without his brandy, was he? He had John's kidney, Benjy's liver, someone's blood, had had a brain tumor, and so much more. Instead of that chess table, there should have been one with the array of pill bottles, etc. But, the only time we ever see a pill bottle is when the character is going to become addicted to something. :)

Because this was Super McScuffy's heart, Brady could have run seven marathons in a week, earned a place on the Olympic weight-lifting team, or sprinted all the way to the top of Mt. Everest.

This would be a piece of cake for the Daniel-enhanced Super Brady,
Plus, no mention of the immunosuppresive drugs that he'd have to take daily, for the rest of his life.
Immunosuppressive drugs? Anyone with St. Daniel's heart don't need no immunosuppressive drugs.

He's Vivian's son so he just doesn't know any better.

I know Chad is looking for reasons for Abigail's behavior, but the writers had better not frame Abigail's issues as being due to something that Stefan0 has done to her. That would be a disgrace.

And, yes, I suspect that Marlena is a better psychiatrist than that, but I could totally see her being duped, and then beating herself up about it for awhile (because they like having her do that from time to time)
