It's Thanksgiving in Salem.

Brady and Tate walk into Brady pub. Brady has a bag. Tate tells Brady he wasn't happy getting up early to make dinner for the homeless shelter. Tate says he feels good now after delivering the dinners. Brady looks in bag and says they have two extra turkey dinners and pumpkin pie. They decide to eat together at pub.

Chanel's setting the table in apartment for four. Paulina comes out of kitchen. Paulina is thankful for the help. Paulina asks about Johnny. Chanel says she and Gio are good, but with a sad face. Paulina asks why she has a frown? Chanel says someone is going after her man.

Johnny comes into the DiMera living room with bottle of wine. Holly is sulking in the chair. Johnny tells Holly it's tough time for everyone. Holly says she's not fine. Johnny hugs her (oops).

Stephanie's in apartment when Chad comes in. He's wearing a running outfit with number 27. Stephanie hands him a handmade trophy. Thomas and Charlotte made it because he didn't think Chad would win the Salem Turkey Trot. The kids went to cheer him on. The charity was the Salem food bank. Chad goes take a shower. Stephanie says dinner is at 5 at Doug and Julie's house. Chad's phone rings. It's Gwen. Stephanie wonders why she's calling Chad?

Julie walks into Horton living room with candlesticks. She sees the back of Everett. She's shocked to see a person there. She says hello. He turns around and says Happy Thanksgiving.

Johnny lets Holly go. He says how awful for Nicole and EJ to lose their baby the way they did. Holly wished they could have met their baby brother. Johnny asks Holly her plans. EJ is with Nicole at the hospital. Kristen took Rachel out. Stefan is with Gabi at prison. Johnny says she has plans now.

Julie is upset Everett's in the house and not know who he is. He said Doug let him in. He says he's Everett Lynch, the editor in chief at the Spectator. He wants to do Julie's story. He saw Alice and Tom's plaque in the square and wants to do an article. Julie can't believe it since he wrote about Leo Stark last time. Julie tells him she's going to unsubscribe from paper since the paper was stolen from Jack and Jennifer, and the only thing that will save it if it had a new owner and fires everyone. Everett tells Julie that PR wanted the article about Leo. Everett wants Doug and Julie's help to bring back the standards it had with Jack and Jennifer and make it respectful again. Julie believes him. She says there's something about your face. <ha, ha>

Chad gets out of the shower and is dressed to go out. Stephanie says Gwen called. Chad listens to the message and lies to Stephanie that Gwen called to wish Thomas a happy birthday. Stephanie leaves the room to get the kids ready. Chad calls Gwen. He tells her the contracts are signed and money will be transferred tomorrow when the banks open. Chad thanks her for selling him the paper and not to tell anyone. He doesn't want Stephanie know why he's doing this.

Chanel talks to Paulina about Holly. They discuss age the difference and how Johnny and Holly are related, but not by blood. Paulina brings up how she and Johnny are on two sides of a triangle. Chanel says all is fine, but she doesn't want the teenager look at Johnny with puppy dog eyes and me with daggers. Chanel and Paulina are now at the table discussing Johnny. Paulina says if Johnny looks at Holly with certain eyes, set him straight. Her phone rings. Johnny is calling to tell Chanel he won't be there for dinner. Johnny wants to be there for Holly. Chanel understands since Holly is family. Chanel wants to tell Johnny something, but changes her mind. When she gets off the phone, Abe is there.

When Johnny gets off the phone, Holly says he didn't have to cancel his dinner with Chanel. Johnny says EJ gave cook the day off. They head to the kitchen to see what they can eat for dinner.

Stephanie and Chad arrive at the Horton dining room and talk to Julie. She's happy they are there. Doug is upstairs resting since he was in the turkey trot. He will come down for dessert. The kids are playing outside. Everett comes to the dining room and says everything ok in kitchen. He says hello to Chad and Stephanie. Julie says she invited Everett to dinner since he doesn't have family in town.

Chad asks if they know each other? Everett says from a previous life <ha, ha> maybe. Everett says they just met. He wants to do a story about the Horton family and she's been kind. Stephanie tells Chad that he and Everett should go to the kitchen and check on the food. After they leave, Stephanie tells Julie she used to date Everett. She will give Julie more details later. Stephanie says she doesn't think Everett understands she's with Chad. Julie says she's sorry and dinner will be awkward.

After Chanel gets off the phone, she greets Abe. He asks if Johnny's coming for dinner? Chanel said something came up and he can't be there. After dinner, Abe talks about the buttermilk biscuits. He finds out Paulina made the whole dinner. Abe says he enjoyed dinner. Abe asks Chanel what she's been doing? She said she got back from Maryland. She saw Lani, the twins and Eli, and has lots of pictures. Abe starts to look at them. He has to stop since he doesn't recognize his daughter and grandkids. Chanel is sorry, and decides to go to the bakery to leave them alone. She hugs and kisses both of them.

After Brady and Tate are done eating, they talk about eating other dinners. Tate is going to Theresa's and Brady to Marlena's since John's out of town. Brady takes out his phone to text Nicole. Brady asks Tate if he's contacted Holly? Tate says he needs to give her space. He explains to Brady what he did by trying to kiss her. Brady says maybe he should call instead of texting since she's ghosting him. Later, Brady says to take the pumpkin pie to her.

Johnny and Holly in the living room with their bun meal. It's turkey, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce on a bun. Holly says it looks messy. She takes a bite and gets something on her face. Johnny helps her clean it off. Tate walks in with the pies. Tate is sorry to interrupt dinner. Johnny says that's ok. He gets up and says he's going to Chanel's to have dessert. Holly says that's ok. Johnny leaves. Tate says he's sorry he came at the wrong time. He asks if Holly forgives him? Holly says yes, if he helps her break up Johnny and Chanel (here we go again).

Chad, Julie, Stephanie and Everett sit at table waiting for dinner to be ready. The kids are outside playing. Later, Doug texts Julie that he's still resting and can't come down. They decide to have wine. Chad makes toasts to Julie and Stephanie. Before he toasts Everett, Everett tells him he wants to restore the reputation to his late wife's family paper. Chad says that's nice, but you won't be able to do that.

Abe is upset Chanel left. He thinks it's his fault. Paulina reassures him it's not. He eats the pie. Paulina looks at Abe and remembers when she kissed him the first time. (flashback of when Abe got upset). Paulina tells Abe she was tempted to kiss him, but remembered the last time she did and scared him off.

Chanel is leaving the bakery when Johnny comes up. He was on his way to see her. Chanel said she gave Abe and Paulina alone time. They kiss. He's sorry he couldn't make Thanksgiving dinner. Chanel asks him how's Holly? He left her in good hands.

Chad makes his toast to Everett. He tells everyone he bought half of the Spectator and first the thing he's going to do is fire Everett. Stephanie keeps saying Chad. Chad is standing. Stephanie says you wanted to make a toast (it was just Chad's daydream). Chad's real toast is to wonderful family and new friends. Chad drinks the wine in one gulp.

Abe tells Paulina the first time she kissed him he was overwhelmed. Abe tells her that he wanted to kiss her when she mentioned it. He still does. They kiss.

Tate can't believe Holly wants to break up Chanel and Johnny. She's going to do it with or without his help. It will go faster with his assistance. Tate tells Holly that Johnny is too old for her. Holly gets upset and says they can't be friends anymore.

Chanel tells Johnny a story about a man who bought ten boxes of Italian cookies and wanted another dozen. She didn't have any, but found dough to make them. She took the cookies to him in the square where he was waiting. He ate boxes of cookies while he was waiting for an hour. They laugh. Chanel says he pays me and goes. She said she did since was going to see him for Thanksgiving. She's happy they're together again. They wish each other happy Thanksgiving and kiss.

At end, Tate agrees to help Holly break up Chanel and Johnny. Tate calls her his friend and he wants her happy. She gets up from her chair and hugs him from behind. Holly says she'll be over the moon when Johnny breaks up with Chanel and at Christmas shares dessert with me.

Chanel's jacket reminded me of Captain Kangaroo's coat

Is this the one that wanted all the cookies?

I sort of wish they would just jump over holidays since they're just weird now. People that should be together aren't. The stuff with Holly was weird. Why wouldn't he just see if he could bring her to Chanel's? Just start the show on the evening of the holiday and people can discuss how the day was with people we can't see.

Johnny and Holly in the living room with their bun meal. It's turkey, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce on a bun.
If cook was off, I wonder how they had a turkey, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce to make their sandwiches?? Unless cook prepared a full Thanksgiving meal the day before, for the DiMansion residents to eat the next day?

I think only having 12 people on an episode really hurts the holidays episodes. I don't mind it most of the time but for the holidays and weddings it really hurts those episodes.

Also, are we really supposed to believe Maggie, Holly's grandmother, wouldn't have invited her over for Thanksgiving, especially after finding out what happened to Nicole and that she was alone?

Because the table was so small and just placed in the living room. Have no idea where a 5th person would fit. Don't these apartments have a real place to eat? You would think Paulina could afford a nice place. Did anyone notice that Abe switched where he was sitting after Chanel left?

Maybe, I’m missing something, but how can foolish Chad fire Everett when Xander still owns half the paper. Surely The fair-minded X-man wouldn’t agree to such cheap, petty behavior. (Xander, the conscience of Salem!)

Two new possibilities for Roman’s Pub menu arose in this episode. The buttermilk biscuits look like a winner by the way Abe pigged out on them. In contrast, Thanksgiving dinner on a bun seems like a major loser since nobody took more than one bite of this vile concoction. (Sami’s children are lucky that this wasn’t around when they were growing up. It seems like the sort of time-saver she would have foisted on them.)

So stupid how they comment on faces being familiar. It's not really funny that you're swapping the actors around.

Chad is an idiot. I was kind of hoping he really was firing Everett right then. All he does is lie to Stephanie. She better wise up.

I thought Johnny would ask Holly to join them, not stay home with her. And she is awful. Why would Tate want to be with someone so awful?

But would Everett really go on Thanksgiving to see if Julie wanted to do a story? A little rude.

Why would Tate want to be with someone so awful?
It's either DUH PLOT or ...

The fact that his parents are awfully awful people as well. With role models like poker-swinger Jeannie T. and druggie Brady Black, how anyone could not be a dumpster fire of a person is beyond comprehension.
