Episode #10,947 Director – Phil Sogard
Stefano & EJ are having very angry words over Nicole being in jail. Stefano is shouting at EJ for failing to get Nicole out, so now his “grandchild is gestating in a jail cell”, while EJ is protesting he did all he could, but Judge Fitzpatrick was a turncoat. After promising him Nicole would get out, she let herself be swayed by Bo Brady. (any judge who would get “swayed” by what Bo Brady said should lose their seat on the bench. JMHO!) Stefano thinks they can solve the problem by finding the killer of Trent, since the cops seem unable to do so, but gets suspicious of Elvis’s reaction. He wonders if Elvis thinks Nicole is actually guilty…..EJ explodes with a “I don’t know”. They argue back and forth, with EJ accusing Stefano of being fanatically obsessed with heirs, and always trying to control them, while Stefano accuses EJ of caring only about this unborn child and not it’s mother, that perhaps he is still focused on Sami, and feels he is betraying her. EJ denies this, just saying that Nicole is very important to him, before he stalks out.
Over in the jail, Nicole talks to her baby, telling it she is glad the pains have stopped, but ssshhh, don’t tell anyone, cuz she is going to get them out of there. She takes the tin cup, and straight out of a Jimmy Cagney prison movie, begins running it along the bars, yelling for a guard, complaining of pains, needing a doctor. The guard is unmoved, tells her he recognizes Misty Circle, has her porn movie which is getting worn out from him watching it so much, wonders if it is out on DVD yet. He comments she has to be nicer to him, she calls him a disgusting pig, as he leaves. She begs, pleads, sheds tears, complains, and next we see a doctor checking her out, finding nothing wrong, and she is left alone in the cell. She tries to sleep, is restless, spots a cockroach, screams about vermin in her cell, the guard returns with a toilet bowl brush. LOL, gives it to her, telling her to take care of it herself. She swats at the bug, throws the brush in the sink, ewwww, but she has not given up yet, as she tells her little one. She grabs the brush, runs the handle along the bars making a lot of racket, and again crying about having pains, and maybe losing her baby.
EJ arrives at the jail to see Nicole, finding an empty cell. The guard claims she was taken to University Hospital. EJ calls the hospital, learns that Nicole is not there. He hangs up, informs the guard, and demands to know exactly where Nicole is.
Over at the Cheatin’ Heart (hey, we got a different set at last, ha!) Stephanie bellies up to the bar, surveying the place as the bartender asks if she would like a Flirtini. She turns, and surprise…….it is Max! Seems he needed another job, asked Adrienne if he could come back, and there he is. (guess leaving his loving mom in the lurch is beside the point) They have some nasty words back and forth – if he is insinuating she is there to pick up guys, she is meeting some fellow advertising interns, he doesn’t care if she gets up on the bar and strips, yada, yada. Mention is made of Melanie, as she sips her drink, wonders why he doesn’t go back to college, he is happy doing what he is doing, more yada, yada.
Chelsea & Philip come in, sit at a table as she goes on and on about Nick & Melanie, telling what she overheard, & how Melanie is playing up to Nick. Philip thinks she is jealous, doesn’t want Nick, doesn’t want anyone else to have him either. They have a few words, he mentions Daniel, she warns him off that subject, then apologizes, talks of Kate, both are very worried, etc. Stephanie comes over, a bit unsteady on her feet, asks Chelsea to get her a drink. Chelsea leaves, tells Max, telling him Stephanie is wasted, and he should cut her off. Meanwhile, Philip is telling her he will take her home, she protests she can get a cab. Nope, he will take her. Stephanie is mispronouncing words, agrees to leave with Phil. Chelsea & Max note this, problem solved.
At another table sits Abe & Lexie, who have noted the crowd at this place seems to be so much younger now. (anyone know where Steve & Kayla are hiding????) They talk of the election tomorrow, Lexie apologizing for her mixed signals during his campaign, promising things will be different, she will stand by him, is so proud, etc. etc. Abe talks of all the terrible things the ex-mayor had done, and reforms. Her cell rings, nope, not the sitter, but her father. Seems Stefano is confident Abe will win the election (who else is running????) and wonders who will Abe appoint as commissioner of police. Stefano wants to make sure Abe does not appoint Roman, as he has been after Stefano ever since the stuff started with Marlena…..Lexie abruptly hangs up on him. Abe tells her that he will not ever be influenced by anything a DiMera wants.
Melanie is unpacking her suitcase, putting things in dresser drawers, seems to note something is not there, has a flashback to packing as that note is slipped under her door, opening it, and reading “I saw you at the cemetery. I know what you did”. The scene changes now over to Nick, down in the kitchen, reading the note. He goes over to a drawer, takes out a pen and piece of paper, sits down at the table, with the original note unfolded beside him. He mutters, no, not now, not now, puts the pen and paper back in the drawer, folds the note and puts it in his back pocket. Now he looks at Melanie’s purse, touches a tube of lipstick, open it (appears to be brand new, unused) then a purse sized perfume bottle, which he holds up to his nose. Melanie comes in surprised to see someone going thru her purse. Nick explains what a klutz he is, knocked her purse over, things spilled out. Now Melanie brings up his invention, wondering how much profit it could make. Nick writes a figure down on a piece of paper (give me a break, why can’t the characters just say it out loud???). He shows it to her, she claims she can’t count that high, they get into a conversation of how each would spend the money – Nick talks of a nice house, pool, hot tub; Melanie talks of designer clothes, lots of jewelry. She leaves.
Next, Melanie is on her bed, going over real estate ads, as Nick brings her a tray with warm milk on it, a Horton tradition apparently, as Aunt Maggie did the same for him on his first night. She closes the door, stands listening as Nick remains on the other side of the door, not leaving. She opens it, tells him he is hovering, he acts all bashful, wondering if he should say something or not, then pulls the note out of his pocket. He tells her he feels very protective of her, knows she has been thru a lot, wants her to lean on him. He leaves telling her if she needs anything, he is just down the hall. Later, Melanie is sleeping restlessly, hearing the voice on the phone saying he knows what she did. In the kitchen, Nick is drinking his own warm milk, as he fantacizes being married to Melanie, with her in the best Donna Reed fashion, putting his dinner on the table, having made his favorite Fettucini Alfredo, & Caesar Salad. They nuzzle and kiss a bit, as both talk of lucky they are to have each other, yada, yada. She calls him her knight in shining armor, and how she loves him so much. Back in reality, Nick licks his lips.
