Days of our Lives - Wed., Sept. 24, 2020 (full summary)

Since Trask has her own vendetta against Kristen, wouldn't it be a conflict of interest for her to judge this case?

She's the District Attorney so is prosecuting, not judging. In most places in real life that wouldn't happen. In Pennsylvania, the case would be turned over to another attorney in the DA's office to prosecute or given to a DA in another county.

gramcracker, this is a good point. Melinda does have a conflict here because a victim was her daughter. Here's a quote from a law review article on this subject. "To the extent that a prosecutor aligns herself too closely with a victim, a prosecutor may compromise her ability to evaluate the case objectively, to weigh the credibility of the victim impartially, to exercise her broad discretion fairly and dispassionately, and to protect the legal rights of the accused." Of course, this is Salem so all bets are off.

Gramcracker, I hope rehab goes extremely well. Take care
