Days Production on hiatus

Now, if they come back after 5 weeks and SLOW down daily production, they might eventually be on the road to fixing this problem.

Yes, and then they will be shut down for 2 weeks in Aug. during Olympics, but of course, we won't be seeing the show during the period either, so, that is a wash.

I say 5 weeks off, then 5 on, taping one or fewer episodes a day, then 5 off, and so on...until they're only 5-6 weeks ahead.

Problem is the stories are already written, they'll just delay in the filming of them. :(

That is true. But...there is time for rewriting, deleting, changing course. The most important thing right now is to slow down the filming, and get some bright light into the gloom, misery, darkness, despair.

There is NO REASON that every character who was earmarked to leave, whether by choice or not.......had to be killed. That is lazy writing, even if it gave a couple of actors some scenes in which to absolutely SHINE!

How is that handled? The actors and crew still receive their pay checks, right? I hope they do! Not their fault Corday and his stupid decisions back themselves into this predicament.

I've been wondering about that too. If production is closed down, maybe crew can file
for unemployment.

I'm glad the actors/crew get a much needed break that schedule must be brutal. The writers should take a nap and refresh their minds. Maybe that is the problem, lol, they are sleep deprived. That's why nothing much makes sense.

The writers should watch some of the episodes from the past and get a clue on how to write romance, and love, and even HAPPY JOYFUL things. At least in my opinion.

I don't think they will get unemployment as they are not being fired. They will probably work on other projects.

If they can get short term projects. I'd imagine that's hard to do.

Heck, some things only take 2-3 weeks to shoot. But some of the cast work on charity things, so put the extra time there,. And some...heck, they just enjoy the time off.

I was thinking of the crew members being able to get short term projects. I think that might be hard to do, to find specific projects they could do while Days was dark.

Want to bet the crew gets paid regardless? They have some heavy duty union contracts......

I'm wondering what the limits of the crew contracts are. Couldn't Days do some side-filming (behind the scenes stuff)? Hire the crew out for adverts? Or, burn what's been taped and start fresh? It just seems like they're not thinking outside the box. (Heck, they could shoot some "web original" stuff with the Days actors, too.)

In the past, I learned that the agreement with the unions was for the one week off, per month, or those specific weeks (Christmas, etc.) that might be extra. They could not just shut down for x amount of time that was not in the contracts.
So.......they either have made a special arrangement with the crew unions, or else are paying the crew...(maybe half pay, or saying they were laid off so they could collect U.C.???
