Daytime Emmys cancelled

Thanks, I read several articles some said cancelled. Some said delayed. We probably
learn more later.

That's why I skipped the articles, which put their own spin on things and checked the Emmy press release on the Emmy website itself, which clearly states they will be speaking with the venue and their production partners as to their flexibility to reschedule, meaning what the Emmys said is a delay, not outright cancellation. If they were cancelling, there would be no need to check with the venue or production partners. Here's the actual Emmy press release:

This is the same thing that happened to me recently with the Wally Kurth news. I posted the accurate news that Wally (Justin) was back on contract in the episodes airing the first week of March. Multiple websites then posted their own "spin" on my post, instead of just directly linking to my post, and it got blown out of proportion and websites were posting that I had said Wally had JUST been placed back on contract (for stuff TAPING in March 2020). When what I said was that his contract episodes (where he himself had mentioned he had been signed to a contract at some point prior to September 2019) had finally begun AIRING. Then Wally sees those articles and calls it fake news. But what I posted WAS accurate. His contract stint began AIRING the first week of March.

It's all how you word things!!

47th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards Postponed in Response to COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic

NEW YORK — The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today released the following statement from NATAS Chairman, Terry O’Reilly:

“Given our concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided that we will not be staging the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in Pasadena this coming June. As there are so many unknowns right now with the flow of information changing on a daily, almost hourly, basis, it would simply be irresponsible to move forward with our annual celebration of excellence in daytime television at this time.”

This decision comes only weeks after announcements from the National Academy that it would postpone both its annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards (at the NAB Convention in Las Vegas) and its Sports Emmy® Awards (at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City) due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus.

“These were extremely difficult decisions to make, but at the end of the day the health and safety of our event attendees and staff must remain our paramount concern,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS. “We are closely monitoring public heath authorities’ guidance, seeking feedback from our awards communities, and evaluating the flexibility of our venue and production partners as we plan for the future in this unprecedented context.”

“While we realize this is disappointing, this does not mean we will not be celebrating the work selected for recognition in our Awards judging processes,” said Brent Stanton, Executive Director, Daytime Emmy Awards. “Judging continues, and we look forward to announcing our incredibly talented nominees later this Spring. We are working on some interesting alternative ideas for how to best recognize the honorees later this year and will share more details in the weeks ahead.”
