So much for respect for history -- years later, a ground-breaking storyline has been turned into a cliche-ridden soap plot: faithless husband, long-suffering mother, and an obtuse, ungrateful, hostile son. And for good measure, the writers have thrown in a grandmother who goes out of her way to her former daughter-in-law. The David and Valerie of yesteryear deserved a lot better than this.
