Tonight the original show is back with new episodes on NBC. It starts at 7 Central.

Followed by Law and Order SVU and Law and Order Organized Crime.

I loved the original Law & Order up to about season 8/9 ...seasons 4-8 are superb and a shift in storytelling. In some ways it's never left, since it's been in syndication and SVU has stayed on the air the whole time, too. The Chicago shows exist in the same universe. I wish I were Dick Wolf.

I loved the original show but by the time it ended I felt like they had run it into the ground. Just couldn't get a good cast that worked for me. I have no real interest in the reboot sadly.

What I always wished was we had gotten a season with George Dzundza and Paul Sorvino together or Sorvino and Orbach. I think they would have been great together. I always felt like Sorvino was only acting about 5 percent of the time and the rest was all really just him. So great.

I never watched this one, but did see Criminal Intent when it was on and loved it. I also really enjoyed the short-lived Law & Order LA that aired about a decade ago, and was sad about it getting canceled.

I've never liked SVU. It was too much, "Oh, look how we can torture women for entertainment." I've heard they try to do less of that now, but it was too much torture porn for me. I liked the original. It felt less sensationalist. I might watch an episode or two. I loved Jeffrey Donovan when he was on Burn Notice. Surely Sam Waterston's character would be retired by now. Maybe to the shore with his new man? (Sorry, that's a Grace and Frankie reference.)
