Megan Hathaway was in Salem from 1984-1985. Her backstory was that she lived in Salem as a kid/teen and went to high school with Bo. They were high school sweethearts. Her father was supposedly Maxwell Hathaway, a criminal. But really Stefano was her father. He called her his Golden Girl (she was blond back then). She always knew Stefano was her father. We never found out who her mother was or how Stefano got Maxwell to pretend to be Megan's father publicly. When Megan was talking to Bo (in 1984) she told him her mother had died 3 years earlier.
She tried to get back together with Bo by pretending she had gotten pregnant to him in high school and that her parents forced her to go to Europe to have the baby and put him up for adoption. She blackmailed a hooker named Diane Parker to take her little boy (Zach) and pretend he was the baby she gave up for adoption. Everyone bought the story for a while but then Bo figured out the truth and reunited Diane and Zach. The Bradys and Hortons took Diane and Zach under their wings and treated them like family.
Eventually Megan tried to kill Hope by rigging the hot tub at The Body Connection (Chris Kositchek's gym/spa) to electrocute her when she got in it. Before Hope arrived, Megan and Larry Welch fought and he killed her, then put her body in the rigged hot tub. Hope was initially charged with killing Megan, but eventually the truth came out that it was Larry who killed Megan.
This is all in a nutshell. There was a big story Megan was involved in about 3 prisms that would cure Stefano's brain tumor at the time. Those prisms are being talked about now.
We have no idea how Megan survived being killed by Larry back in 1985 and is now alive. I guess there was a brief line in Beyond Salem about how she actually survived due to being cryogenically frozen until she could be resurrected.
