Prayers for Baltimore

I just read it was early this morning and hardly anyone out at 1:30 Eastern time.

What a tragedy. Prayers for everybody involved. This morning they said 2 people had been rescued, and they're still looking for others, but it doesn't sound hopeful anybody else (on the bridge) is alive.

The video is horrific. Seems like perhaps the cargo ship had a fire and major system malfunction before it crashed into the pylon.

It's so infuriating how people fabricate outlandish stories when tragedies happen. The fact that it happened in the middle of the night should tell those people that it wasn't a terrorist attack. As noted in the tweet, terrorists want to take maximum lives. They'd have timed it for rush hour traffic if that had been the case. Or maybe when people were on their way to a big sporting event or concert and the bridge was bumper to bumper traffic.

One of the 2 rescued has died at the hospital.
There's a live breaking news update (the president is going to give a statement), and they're now saying of the 2 that were rescued, one is hospitalized and the other one wasn't seriously hurt and refused medical treatment at a hospital.

They said 7 cars were on the bridge when it collapsedl....the Coast Guard was sent, they located vehicles in the water......

This is close to home — Annapolis — which makes it particularly disturbing. What’s amazing is that the whole bridge came down, not just one section. Fortunately, the loss of life appears to be small, but the port of Baltimore is now closed indefinitely, which will have a negative effect on the local economy. It also eliminates a major route for commuters heading southeast from the city.

Yes whoever reported the death early this morning was mistaken, thank goodness

A very large negative effect on the local economy, but given what goes through, a negative effect on the national economy.

Also for those who have never seen one of these cargo ships, seeing pictures on TV does not give a good idea of the size. It's about 985 feet long and about 157 feet wide. That's over 3 football fields long!
