I was enjoying some old Days clips on YouTube tonight and stumbled upon this gem:

Notice Josh Taylor playing Chris Kosichek as he walks Kayla down the aisle.

Shane escorts Kim down the aisle.

At the 4:52 mark you'll see a very small Christie Clark (Carrie), followed by Sami and Eric (with dark hair!) as barely more than toddlers, who are too shy to walk down the aisle without some help from Roman/John. I think this was the first episode for Christie Clark (Carrie), as well as Tiffany and Edward Palma as Sami and Eric.

Abe and Maggie are best man and maid of honor.

Alice and Mickey are sitting in the front row.

I loved it all....and then, came Marlena...in that gown!! I can't recall 1986 style, and maybe it was wonderful back then...but, oh my goodness...what shoulders! Sorry, folks, I don't want to upset anyone, but I couldn't help but laugh!! Compared to "today's brides"?

Thanks for this Just Samantha!!

Shoulder pads were very big in the 80's. Literally and Fashionably.

I remember watching this and being so relieved that Marlena looked so beautiful and had the dress and headpiece to die for! Brides hate to be outshined at their wedding, and if not for that dress and headpiece Calliope would have been the most eye catching one. Not to mean anything against Calliope, as I was and am so inspired by a lot of the costumes and outfits she wore.

Thanks Just Samantha! This brought tears to my eyes too. First I adored the original Roman & Marlena ........and seeing all our beloved vets in the church........and the beautiful ceremony. And they weren't ashamed/embarassed to state they were Catholic [which I am not] in those days. 86% of all Americans have 'a faith' according to latest CNN poll, but from tv/movies it is a hidden secret.

I loved this clip! I usually surf the 1990s Days clips on youtube and would not have watched this one on my own!

I had to stop and start at Kayla’s entrance - I completely did not recognise her! Also great to see my beloved Amy Stock (Britta) in an early role!

Refresh my memory - I'm too lazy right now to check - what was going down between Kim & Shane at this point??

deleted unnecessary quote....JS

Kim had recently had Andrew - while Ro/John & Marlena were on the run and right when John found out he was Roman. I'm not sure where the paternity was at the time of the Ro/John & Marlena wedding, but I'm pretty sure Kim & Shane were still broken up. Once they got past the fact that Victor wasn't the Baby-Daddy, then Emma came and stole the baby. I don't believe Kim & Shane got back together for a while. But I do remember lots of Kim tears at a few weddings over those years.

Boy it takes a lot to take my speach and my breath away, but bingo you managed. I would have said Shazam, but I could not spell the word......:hug:Thank you for the effort it took to find this video, and for making sure we are able to enjoy it.....:cry:O my goodness, weddings do this to me...

The closest we've had to a sweet and romantic wedding lately was Victor and Maggie's little mini-wedding in the living room of the K-mansion, but even that was tainted by the (audience's) knowledge that Victor had a hand in Maggie's eggs being stolen to help Mr. & Mrs. Jonas have Daniel.

Sami and Rafe's first wedding ended with EJ forcibly dragging Johnny and Sydney away. Sami and Rafe's renewal of vows was tainted with the (audience's) knowledge that Sami had sex with EJ.

Daniel and Chloe's wedding was tainted by the (audience's) knowledge that Chloe had sex with Philip and he was the father of Chloe's unborn child.

EJ and Nicole's wedding was tainted by EJ's lust for Taylor.

Philip and Melanie's wedding was nearly ruined by Vivian trying to kill Melanie (with the poisoned hair comb).

And, of course, we had the debacle at Gabi and Nick's wedding with Chad standing up and announcing that Nick was not the baby's father and calling Gabi vile names.

Except when Larry Welch was trying to marry Hope, and married Howie instead.... What a sweetie Howie was, and he was enjoyed... RIP

But Larry Welch and Hope weren't a lovey-dovey couple. I'm talking about the actual romantic weddings Days put on years ago:

Don and Marlena
Roman and Marlena
Roman/John and Marlena
John and Marlena
Kimberly and Shane
Bo and Hope
Steve and Kayla
Jack and Jennifer
Maggie and Mickey
Pete and Melissa
Tony and Anna
Eugene and Calliope
Tom and Alice
Doug and Julie
Mike and Margo
Jessica and Joshua

Those are all memorable, and helped me to love this show, but the tears... My goodness I should have invested in the Kleenex Company, and sold the tissues to go along with the Barf Bags...

Yes I agree. The weddings were the highlights of our dreary lives, and for a few moments of loveliness, and breathtaking beauty, we were able to live their weddings with them, and was there as witnesses... I love it now, but then, the show was my blood line. Thank you for reading my blurps..... Love this new veresion of the Spectator....

I guess the answer to our problems is that Marlena needs to get married more. She takes up 27% of your list! :)

(By the way, I discounted Maggie & Mickey since their most recent, big Romantic wedding was a double with Pete & Melissa.)
