Funny thing is, the show has often forgotten the correct spelling of Sami's middle name as they've had Roman call her "Sami J", she once carried a purse that was monogrammed with SJB and one time they showed an envelope addressed to Samantha J. Brady. Seems to me that was all in the same basic time period, so maybe it was one particular script writer who was unaware.
