This is a show that hops around a lot, but will try to keep the stories together. It is a shame Days chose to NOT devote an entire episode to Sami/Lucas wedding, an event viewers have long awaited. Sigghhh. I am making this a bit longer today, in honor of this wonderful and special event.
Kayla is in what appears to be a hotel suite, listening to Steve’s screams coming from behind a closed door. A knock at the locked door, and she lets Marlena in, (who looks very pretty in a pink jacketed outfit) surprised to see her, as she knows Marlena has a wedding to go to. Kayla says Steve is with the deprogrammer, and they hear Steve yelling he can’t take it anymore. Kayla worries that she might lose Steve if EJ gets him again, then talks of how Stephanie just does not understand. Marlena offers comforting words, has to leave, but promises to return after the wedding. Kayla send her love to Sami/Lucas, Marlena leaves. Out comes Mr. Arrowsmith, who says Steve is resting, and he is going to take a break, get something to eat. He assures Kayla that he has done this many times and every single one returned to their families. He leaves. Kayla locks the door again.
In an alley somewhere, EJ is paying off a couple of thugs, telling them they know what they have to do, and his hands have to stay clean. He remarks this a day that will change many lives irrevocably.
Back in the hotel suite, out comes Steve, asking what year this is. When Kayla tells him 2007, he is surprised, thinking it was 91 or ‘92. He looks in a mirror, saying it is no wonder he looks like hell. (And Steve, we viewers don’t like this 2006/07 version of Patch either. We want OUR character back!) He suddenly goes beserk, saying he has to let EJ know where he is, and empties Kayla’s purse for her cell, but has no number. They struggle, she throws the phone across the room, & calms him down. Steve tells Kayla what a beautiful face she has, how he tries to get her to go away and she won’t. They are sitting on the floor, and he asks if she wants to make love. They kiss & she says THAT is the Steve she remembers. Knock, knock. Steve is frightened. Kayla is sure it is Arrowsmith. Nope, the 2 thugs claim to be room service. She did not order anything, but they say it is from Mr. & Mrs. Bo Brady, and she has to sign. She open the the door a crack, still on latch lock, and manages to shut it when she sees the guns. Steve is babbling in the corner, as she picks up the room phone to call for help.
Maggie is rushing around Chez Rouge, making sure all is ready for the reception. Billie comes in with some place cards with flower seeds attached, and wonders about the huge video screen. Maggie says the wedding planner said it would be o.k. Chelsea comes in, (definitely not dressed for her maid of honor position) asking her mother to help her out. She wants Billie to run interference in case Nick comes near her. (ohh, brother, this is soooo lame on so many levels). Billie thinks Chelsea still has a soft spot for Nick, she admits she does. Cue Willow to come in, babbling about Chelsea being an arsonist and talking Nick into stealing the hairbrush that would clear Willow. (does this idiot honestly believe she herself is not guilty?)Willow finally leaves, Billie questions Chelsea, who proclaims her innocence and leaves herself.
At St. Lukes, guests are arriving. Caroline & Shawn are sitting up front. Nick comes in, sees Max, joins him, asking about Abby. Max says something about Abby finishing her semester at Salem U. and then leaving to spend the summer with her parents in London. (O.K. everyone, take a deep breath, as yes, this exit is very badly handled, even worse than the exit of Mimi). Nick is surprised he did not know, since they both live in Maggie’s house, and she did not even say good-bye. Max says it was sudden. They go back and forth about dumping girls, or girls dumping them, and up comes Stephanie, who has no escort for the wedding, asking them both to do the honors. Nick spots Chelsea, goes to say hi, awkward moment or two, then says he will give her a ride to the reception. Chelsea has her car, but Nick says better to use one, cuts down on emissions. (And with the price now of gas, saves money besides!) She agrees.
Bo tells Hope he has a flight to Tinda Lao tomorrow. Later, he has had a phone call, Philip has Claire, Belle was searching, and then Shawn & some girl who works at the hotel went looking and no luck. He is going now, so will miss the wedding. Later he tells Roman (did not want to worry Hope) about the shooting of Shawn, apologizes to Marlena for missing the wedding.
Roman spends a few minutes with the nervous bride, telling her how much he loves her and how proud he is of her, and how she has changed for the better, ever since the rescue of Lucas. He leaves. Lucas is on phone with a sick photographer, totally upset. Will to the rescue, new camera, cannot make a mistake, he will take the photos. Problem solved. Later we see Lucas outside the bride’s door, fixing up a plant, as Marlena arrives. She will take it in for him, as he thanks her for the wonderful and special daughter he is about to marry. Sami is listening, tearing up. Marlena comes in, sees the tears, as Sami confesses she has a secret she has kept from Lucas, and it could change everything. Marlena advises her to tell, and promises to send Lucas. He arrives, she hides behind a screen, and tries to tell him, but Lucas will not listen. He knows she has something she wants to get off her chest, but he does not care, he only wants to hear her say, I do. The music starts, and he rushes off. Chelsea rushes in, telling Sami the wedding is starting.
We now see Chelsea & Will coming down the aisle, with Father Kelly up at the altar. Now comes a radiant and beautiful Sami on the arm of her father. She smiles at her family and friends as they come down the aisle, and joins Lucas at the altar. Father Kelly begins the ceremony, talking of the couple who are here out of love, asks them both if they have come of their own free will, they have. Marlena does a reading from the bible, and now we see the wicked witch of the west arrive in the back of the church. Father Kelly says a few more words, then asks if there is anyone here who objects to the union of these two people. Sami looks around at all her smiling family, and then spots Kate in the back. The door opens, and in comes the wicked warlock of the west….yes, EJ. Freeze frame on Sami’s face.
