Xander likely saved Nicole from the fire I speculate as they appear around the same time on the show. Though now that you mention it that wouldn't surprise me redsquirrel, to make it harder for Eric and Nicole to get together. Though I think Xander and Sarah are enough to keep Eric and Nicole apart.
