After the birth, Marlena and the baby dozed; John watched them and noticed the baby had stopped breathing and performed CPR to revive her.
Roman sees "his" daughter for the first time.

Sami kidnaps Belle and hides in her friend Jamie's basement.
Sami plans to put Belle up for adoption.
Kristen and John figure out the whole scheme, rescue baby Belle and bring her back to Roman and Marlena on Christmas Eve.
Roman and Marlena are overjoyed to have their baby back in their arms.
A few weeks later, Belle was being christened when Stefano showed up in church and forced Marlena to say she slept with John and that Belle could be his child.
Stefano later gives copies of Sami's diary to Roman; Sami had written about seeing John and Marlena having sex and later changing Belle's blood type in the hospital computer (so Roman would never know that Belle wasn't his child)
Roman cuddles "his" daughter for the last time and Marlena leaves, with Belle.
Marlena went to Tom and Alice's (who were celebrating Mickey and Maggie's anniversary); Maggie offered to take Belle upstairs and put her down for the night.
Alice insists Marlena and Belle move in with them while things get sorted out.
John holds Belle for the first time, knowing she is his daughter.
Marlena goes to Roman's to pick up some clothes and belongings, thinking Roman is out for the day. He's home and holds the baby he thought was his, one last time; the heartbreak showing on his face.
Later, Roman goes to Marlena's new penthouse for something. Marlena puts Belle in his arms. He tells her he still loves her.
Carrie and Austin babysit Belle while Roman and Marlena go on a date (I guess she was trying to convince him to get back together)
