She left Salem with Sami, Johnny and Allie in 2014, so she's been off-screen for almost 9 years. When Allie and Johnny came back to Salem in 2020 and 2021, it was said that Sydney was in boarding school. She was born in 2009, so in real life she'd be 14 years old (15 if you're still fooling around with the time jump that Days seems to have given up on). Due to Johnny and Allie being SORASed, if Sydney was SORASed accordingly, she'd probably be in college now.

As it stands now, there are no other characters on-screen in her age group, so bringing her back to Salem now would be pointless.
 
Johnny is on screen, and so is Chanel. That group includes Tripp and Wendy. Sydney could be in that group or the older one that includes Alex, Stephanie, Chad, etc. They can make her whatever age they want. And she’s always had a special relationship with Nicole. That could be mined for story. She’d be in the DiMera mansion, and Gwen needs a real friend.

Yes, I can understand that. It would just be nice for continuity of family if they would at least bring her back for weddings, funerals and/holidays at the least until she is "aged" enough to be brought back into stories. I find it hard to believe she would never come back to see family, even at boarding school, or for her grandmother's "funeral".

It would be nice to see her come back and give her dad EJ some hell, a little bit. It's doubtful that she'd turn out well with Sami, and EJ for parents, but it would still be nice for her to come back and put the whole lot of them to shame, in an upstanding way, or if they want to go all DiMera with her, have her come back, and with Belle's help, take the whole company away from all of the crazy bunch.

Leave EJ out in the cold for how he treated her mother, and then Sami comes back and they run the company together as a mother/daughter team. The men in the family, have screwed the company up for quite long enough. Let the ladies have a shot of it. For a show geared towards women, there's not many empowered women that aren't dependent on the men, in some way. Let's see what the ladies can do with a little bit of actual power, and prominence.

That's what I was kind of thinking TinaY. She could fit into that group easily, as long as she didn't get involved with Chanel, like Johnny/Allie did. Lol. Maybe she could be the "one" for Alex, and perhaps help him with his glasses affliction, and help him get over his obsession with Stephanie.
 
Until they decide to do a storyline for Sydney, she'll be off at boarding school/college or probably living in Europe indefinitely.

Look at the Donovan kids. Jeannie Theresa was last seen in Salem as a kid in 1992, but didn't return as an adult until 2013. Eve was last seen in Salem in 1991, until they did a recast and brought her back in 2014. Andrew was last seen as a kid in 1992, until we got the adult version this year.

Alex was last seen as a kid in 1991, but didn't return to Salem until last year.

We had the children of Orpheus, last seen as kids in 1987, return to Salem as Zoey and Evan/Christian over 30 years later.

And some Salem kids are just never seen again, no matter how strong their family ties are, like Dougie LeClair (Doug's son/Hope's half-brother), Joy Wesley (although she did get a couple brief mentions when Craig and Nancy returned recently), Scotty Banning (Eli's half-brother), JT Reiber (who Bo and Hope said they'd love forever and keep in touch with), Noel Curtis (Sarah's half-sister, who did get a mention when Sarah first returned), Victor II and Joey Kiriakis (Justin and Adrienne's twin sons not physically seen since they were infants in 1991), Zach Parker (the little boy Megan pretended was a baby she had with Bo and forced to give up for adoption; after the truth came out, the Bradys and Hortons took Zach and his mom Diane under their wings as family, then they left Salem, never to be mentioned again). There are others, too.

She could also be in the group that includes Parker/Holly/Tate or the group that includes Marie/Tommy/Mickey. Whatever DUH PLOT requires.

Although it was never a strength of Days, re-Ron has doubled down on changing ages even on adult characters to suit whatever dumb plot he vomited onto paper.
