Today, I didn't watch the whole show, as the TV was on but I was multitasking. Furthermore, I didn't have the chance to catch up by reading the Today in Salem thread. Anyway... I did catch the last few minutes. And the "cliff-hanger" gave me the idea for this thread. So, let's have some fun, shall we ? :)

- You know Days is not what it used to be when TIIC (The Idiots In Charge) think that a good Friday cliff-hanger consists of a possible break-up between Paige and JJ.

Anyone else ? :)

The Bradys are not Paige's family, not at all.

But, you know Days is no longer what it used to be when nice women are turned into shrews, when a woman who loves children is not allowed to have one of her own repeatedly, and a playboy doctor is turned into a super hero, just minus the cape.

Nope, at the most, shirt tail relatives. Never been social family, never raised as such, no contact, plus Shane & Kim were divorced for many years.

And you know Days is not what it used to be when couples that created magic are torn apart on a whim, instead of overcoming adversity together. Whether an enemy, a financial problem, a war, an illness, Days' couples are no longer facing whatever together.

We'll have to agree to disagree because Kim and Shane were together for many years, apart for many years, but are now together again. Eve makes enough comments about Kimberly and Shane that Paige is obviously familiar with Kimberly as a family member. We know Eve has had no contact with the Salem Bradys, but they are still her step-family.

Hmmm, seems to me that Jeannie & Andrew were tiny tots when the Donavans divorced, and Kim moved to L.A. with Philip Collier. Shane & Kim only got back together at the time of Alice's funeral a couple years ago. And since Jeannie is all grown up now seems they were divorced a great many years, more than they were married. And yes, they are together now, thankfully.

And thus, Days is no longer the Days it used to be when new writers insist on rewriting the history & background of long time characters, and even their personalities, turning ones that were well liked into a joke, or much disliked character.

Step family doesn't always mean "family"............believe me, I know.
I agree, but the Bradys are Eve and Paige's step-family.

I have step-family members I haven't had contact with in 30 years. Now and again I run into them and if they see me, they still act as though we're bosom buds. And when they talk to my mother, they still ask how I am, what I'm doing, etc.

Aren't step-families fun? Oy when my grandmother died the debating over how to list grandkids - what about THESE step-grandkids, etc? LOL - logic and family don't mix. (Of course, neither do Logic & Days...*wink*...)
:back:

You know Days is not what it used to be when the characters you root for are supposed to be the villains who only show up to foil the characters you don't care about.

And you know Days isn't what it used to be when more than two new characters share a scene without vets. (Rule of thumb: Characters are new for about a year.)

Fast forwarded through much of Thurs and Friday's episode, only really watched the Brady - Theresa parts on Wednesday.

So much different of a show in only a few weeks, and not for the better.

Will keep recording for now, but I think the fast forward button will be used for much of the episode.

You know Days is not what it used to be when:
-You'd rather watch horrible storylines you used to complain about, like EJ-Taylor and FakeRafe, instead of what's currently airing
-The show no longer knows how to keep a rootable couple together
-The show doesn't use its vets wisely; instead, it brings in boring newbies (who hog the airtime) who end up leaving the show 6 months to a year after they first aired.
-The show can't write "good guys" anymore; they're either backburnered (Rafe), boring (Jordan), or turned into sanctimonious jerks (Eric, Jennifer, Paige).

-Characters who hog the airtime take on the jobs/roles of other, undershown characters instead of doing their own job (SuperDan doing Salem PD's job)
-A once feared mob family is reduced to laughable, cartoonish plots (Stefano trying to remove Rafe's 'member'), predictably dumb and evil storylines (constant rapes), and their lead-bad-guy-you-love-to-hate-turned-Avon-lady/representative who survived two murder attempts is killed by his own flunky hired by a drug-dealing hillbilly who just arrived in town a few months ago and started dating your ex-FWB/stepmother.

-The actors who have been on the show or are currently on the show start dissing it (James Scott criticizing the EJ-Sami pairing and how EJ was turned into a wimp, Eve making fun of the porn music airing during her scenes, Daniel making fun of him being "SuperDan" and sleeping with his patients, etc).

-You come to realize you can't trust anything Ken Corday says because he does the exact opposite of what he tells us will happen on the soap.
