The Blacklist

Didn't she put all that stuff back in the box?

Yes I think Elizabeth took Red's third option and is going to pretend she never found her husband's passports and money.

Yes, lovin_safe, I thought that Red could be Lizzy's father, too. He knows too much about her, there is just something there. LIke in the restaurant when he changed her pretending to be his girlfriend to his daughter.

Is anyone watching this show, Monday night it was exceptional, if you want to see a villain then watch this show, Red is at the top of his game, he always finds his man, questions him, and then kills him! No middle man for Red. He also has a soft spot in his heart for LIzzy! But with James Spader as the lead character why wouldn’t the show be amazing?

I am rethinking my reaction to this show. I was initially hooked, but now it is just feeling like violence upon violence -- with very little in between. And it is on waaaaayy past my bedtime.

Couple weeks ago was a "marathon", 3 episodes in a row on a Sat. evening. I watched the first two, but there is truly a lot of violence, blood & gore, so switched to something else and just could not watch the 3rd. I guess if just once a week, it is easier to take.

Part of the reason that I never went back to the show after watching the pilot online (I love James Spader), was that I sensed violent undertones during that scene where the female agent's husband was being tortured. I thought that the camera lingered on those scenes longer than necessary. If its gotten even worse, I'm glad I didn't go back for more. IMO its just further evidence that NBC thinks that it can compete with cable by pushing the envelope as far as possible.

I still find the show compelling, in large part due to Spader's electrifying performance. And not knowing the connection between Red and Lizzie continues to be more intriguing than frustrating. I am highly suspicious of Lizzie's husband, Tom, so watch out for him!:)

I adore James Spader. He was my main reason for watching the first episode.

I'm not sure how I feel about the husband. I can't tell if he's lying to Lizzie or if someone is trying to set him up. Awfully funny that he suddenly wants her to leave though.

Violence is the name of the game nowadays. Normally they aren’t any more violent then others show like this and I watch them all and I watch for James Spader I think he is a very talented actor, I don’t think another actor could pull off this role like he does, if he wasn’t on I don’t know if I would be watching. I don’t trust LIzzy’s husband either. He is up to something!

I, too, like James Spader. He is really the only "attraction" as far as I'm concerned.
Red did tell Lizzy not to trust her husband, and I assume that was based on good knowledge.
I thought we were meant to assume that Red is Lizzy's biological father based on the episode in which he killed her adoptive father to keep him from telling her the truth.

Just odd, if he is her father, he would continually put her in so many life threatening situations.

The show had another actor in mind for the role, who turned it down. But when it was shown to Spader, he loved it. He insisted on shaving his head for the role.

I really cannot imagine anyone else in the role, to tell the truth, he just is so great in it. But..:OT: in the past other actors were wanted for certain roles that today, we just cannot imagine anyone else but their iconic portrayers doing. i.e. Shirley Temple was first choice for Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. Ronald Reagan & Ann Sheridan were first choices for Casablanca. Frank Sinatra was first choice for Curly in the movie Oklahoma! :back:
Am very glad Spader was so enamored of the script and the character.

:OT:Bing Crosby turned down the role of Columbo before Peter Falk was considered for it.:back:

One of the things that I admire about Sleepy Hollow is that while underlying violence runs throughout the show (heads being chopped off on a regular basis), it isn't done in a way where it becomes the focal point. There are no long takes on blood, gore and torture. I've never been grossed out by the show, while the long takes on that initial torture scene on Blacklist seemed like an early warning to me about what to expect in future episodes.

Great choice of Spader's to shave his head. I can't see Red with hair, he would just resemble Spader's Alan Shore from "Boston Legal." By changing his look, Spader is totally convincing as a different character. I also like that Red has feelings...the way he reflected back to his girlfriend's murder and then gently tossed her ashes up on the mountain. Yes, he's a criminal, but he also has a heart (of sorts).

I'm still watching every single episode & it never lets me down. Yes it's gory, bloody & violent, but that's the premise & I don't see that as any different than a lot of shows like all the CSI shows & Dexter (which I loved too).

Not one week has let me down but has kept me in total suspense. I just watched this past weeks epi "The Alchemist" & wow is all I can say. To me this is the absolute best show on Primetime tv.

The only gripe I have is that I wish they would let Lizzie have the actresses real hair. That wig was horrid in the beginning & has gotten better but still very noticeable.

Another awesome show! Just finished watching I do love Red, I love he is arrogant and confident; when he says something he does it! Like shooting Diane, I laughed out loud because she just knew he was blowing smoke! OOPS!!!!!

The thing is, he has murdered so many people, justified or not, that he undoubtably is going to come eventually to a bad end.
