Aiden is in the Square talking to a policeman. He wants to do a press conference and the company has temporarily diverted all power to the Square, but it will overload. He must do his conference now. He flashes back to reviewing the DiMera case with Rafe and Hope. (Long flashback with bad audio.) When he's done with his flashback (including listening to Hope's taped confession). Clyde is following Aiden.

At the police station, Rafe is questioning having a public press conference in a public place. Abe is furious and points out this wouldn't be necessary if the cops had done their jobs. He will not cower to the likes of Xander, Clyde, Orpheus. More yelling with some posturing by Rafe. Abe calms down a bit, offers Hope time off since Claire's her family. Abe leaves. Rafe assures Hope they will find the kids, embraces her. Aiden walks by and spies them through the window.

At the Johnson House, Steve and Kayla quibble about how their son and niece are being terrorised by lunatics but Kayla needs rest. She wants to be strong for when Joey returns.

At the townhouse, John arrives; Marlena laments taking Claire out of the house. (She's recharged her phone, there's some power in the townhouse, it appears.) She can't reach Shawn and Belle, they must be worried. John is confident Claire can hold her own, and will lead them to the baddies. Marlena is not so sure, laments Claire's cavalier attitude. John flashes back to giving Claire a necklace with an alert in the charm. (More bad audio.) Claire appears to have been listening; Marlena hopes Claire gets to use the transponder. John wants to alert Steve and Kayla.

Later, John and Marlena have briefed Kayla and Steve, all of them worry why Claire hasn't used the device yet. They head to the square to present a united front. Before they leave, Steve and John talk about being prepared, Steve has his gun.

At the warehouse, Joey and Claire whisper about a plan to get out. Xander questions Orpheus' plans to use the kids as human shields. Claire mouths off to Orpheus, causing him to pull a gun on her. Orpheus tells the kids they're his get out of jail free card; Joey laments his father's death. Claire taunts Orpheus and relieves Joey with the news that Steve outwitted Orpheus, just as John will. Orpheus has to leave, Xander laments being left to babysit, wonders where Clyde is. Orpheus scolds Clyde, tells him to remain silent and do his part of the plan. Claire's necklace has fallen on the floor. Xander berates them and gags them both. They struggle as Xander makes a financial call to Stavros, but he's breaking up, so Xander steps outside. Joey falls over trying to get the necklace, Xander rushes in, picks him up, and says he'll kill them both if they don't stop it. Orpheus enters, tells Xander he's not in charge. Joey has Claire's necklace.

Clyde is on a pier or something with a big metal briefcase. He opens it, calls Jeremiah, says he got the package. It's full of guns. Later he goes to the hotel room, gawks at the guns again, and looks out the window. Just perfect, he muses.

At the police station, Ciara laments Claire's capture and hopes she wakes up from this bad dream. She and Theo talk about how worried Theo is about Claire. She assures him Joey and Claire will be OK.

Aiden talks to Hope, first about the Kiriakis raid failure, and asks her to make time to see him. Rafe warns him to stay away. Later, Rafe and Hope discuss what Aiden might want from her. Rafe can't stand that Aiden's back.

At the warehouse, Orpheus and Clyde discuss on the phone their plan; Orpheus tells Clyde not to make a move until he hears word from him. They discuss Victor's softening and the failed raid, and the Deimos/Victor alliance. Orpheus is confident that they'll succeed and kill Victor.

At the Square, Kayla/Patch/John/Marlena arrive, Abe laments not having news for them. They worry about Claire's not having activated the transponder. He realises he has no signal on his phone. Meanwhile, Xander is ordered to remove the teens' gags, their parents will need to hear them if their plan is to work. Xander worries they'll give away their location, Orpheus is confident they can't. Later at the hotel, Clyde is practicing his aim, sees Aiden, muses that he's the worst of them all.

Abe's conference commences; Rafe/Hope and Theo/Ciara have joined them, and the criminals are watching on a tablet. Abe berates the town's looting, promises capture and prosecution for same. Encourages the citizens to obey the curfew, keep clear of the siege-making threesome. Orpheus breaks in, Rafe tries to track the signal as Orpheus taunts them by showing the teens. Marlena notices Claire does not have her necklace. Clyde is above, taking aim. There are technical difficulties locating the signal, enraging Rafe. Orpheus wants $20 million, promises to reveal the hostages' whereabouts once they're out of the country. Abe is flummoxed. John and Marlena hope that the baddies didn't get the necklace. Claire tells Joey to press the necklace.

Back at the Square, John still has no bars. Abe continues his speech reassuring the citizens. Aiden sneaks over to Hope, whispers that he knows she killed Stefano. (And we get flashbacks of her shooting, and talking with Rafe about it.) Abe's still talking, Clyde takes aim at Aiden, Abe steps away from the podium, gets the bullet instead. Everyone gets down. Theo freaks out, crawls to the injured Abe. On the ground, John's phone starts beeping.

So...some silly plot points to discuss.

Public Press conference while three killers roam free? Okie dokie. No hotel security overlooking the Square? Riiiiight.

No signal in the middle of the town's most populous area? Sure.

John didn't think Orpheus might tie up Claire's hands? He must stink at chess.

John couldn't move 4 feet to get a signal? (I miss the old days when we didn't need silly plot points about cell phones, because we just DID NOT HAVE mobile phones. LOL)

Clyde going rogue and aiming for Aiden was a nice touch. I half expected him to get shot and Hope to help murder him.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many and too long flashbacks today. And was it just me or was the audio off on all of them?

I'm really hoping Clyde has a bullet for Rafe at this point. I fully expect Xander to stab Orpheus at some point, too.

I can't believe the Pacific Northwest pinhead, I mean how could he be so insensitive to Hope as to drop the hammer about knowing the truth about Stefano. Can't he see that Hope is beside herself over the fact that Ciara's little friend Claire is in the hands of the Unholy Three?

I couldn't help but notice that the while Abe said that Claire was Hope's "family" he didn't specify the nature of the relationship. They are going to continue to tap dance around the fact that Hope has an eighteen-year old granddaughter. LOL

On another note I couldn't help but notice that Orpheus really doesn't seem to have much in the way of respect for Xander does he? Or is that just me? LOL

I can't see Xander being able to put up with the insults and condensation much longer. He's a powder keg and he's about ready to blow.

Thanks for the summary. I guess it was a good show, other than the silly plot points mentioned above by JasonS. It's at least going to move the plot forward. I am a bit surprised it's lasted this long: not in a bad way, just an observation. I must say, though, that I wish the Aiden reveal would've happened AFTER the hostage thing is over! One step at a time, writers! Or maybe I'm just saying that because I really hate their storyline.

I wonder how many missed today's show because of the train crash in New Jersey. One site where I
find video said today's show on tomorrow. That's something only Jason47 will know.

Thanks for the summary, Jason.

I liked the flashback with Claire and John since it was new. John called it a charmy thing. LOL
Hopefully, Orpheus or Xander won't notice Claire looking at Joey's hand.

I laughed when Abe kept telling Hope and Rafe it was the Salem PDs fault the prisoners
were still at large. It's true.

I love the name Orpheus gave the group "Trio of Terror"

In the NYC area, the show aired on COZI TV. I got the whole thing. I tweeted about it at 1pm but I guess not everyone checks the Days hashtag. That's the first thing I do when I have a question.

I digress. I think it was actually Hope who referred to Claire as "family". This has got to stop. With this particular storyline, it's lowering the stakes not to mention making both Hope and Rafe look like insensitive idiots. Whether it's in Kristian Alfonso's (Hope) contract or just a demand she has about not being referred to as a Grandma, it's got to stop. Both Hope and Shawn had kids at a very young age. Totally plausible for Hope to be a grandma of a teen. If this were Shawn or Ciara kidnapped, she'd be beside herself. Instead she is dealing with Aiden and personal stuff with Rafe. Not realistic.

I did enjoy everything with Steve/Kayla and John/Marlena. I liked seeing Claire and Joe try to get the necklace off the floor. Though fighting Orpheus is not the smartest idea.

I still wonder if Xander is in cahoots with Deimos. Could he be Stavros?

The last 5 minutes were great. Jim Reynolds (Abe) did a really nice job today. And I thought it was very suspenseful how the shooting happened. I didn't really understand what Clyde was trying to do until he targeted Aiden. I don't think that was his initial plan.

So I guess that Aiden will blackmail Hope into being with him. Yuck!!!!
Right, who is he, a romantic lead like EJ? LOL
So can someone explain to me just how Claire's necklace managed to fall on the floor?
They didn't show us.
Interesting that Xander was on phone with Stavros...who works for Victor. So....does this mean Xander has a cohort on the inside, or does it mean that Xander is going to betray his fellow felons.
I think the writers just reused a name again, à la Emma, Titus, etc.
I liked the flashback with Claire and John since it was new.
I wasn't sure, but I thought it was. The sound was still off, though.
I think it was actually Hope who referred to Claire as "family".
Abe first, then Hope. But again, very vaguely.
Though fighting Orpheus is not the smartest idea.
Really though, he's not impressing me as a master criminal. I think Claire could take him if her hands were untied.
And I thought it was very suspenseful how the shooting happened. I didn't really understand what Clyde was trying to do until he targeted Aiden. I don't think that was his initial plan.
That's the impression I had as well. I think his orders were to wipe out Abe on Orpheus's orders, and cause a panic. BUT he saw "the worst of em all" and had his own plan. I'm sure Orpheus will be A-OK with that. LOL

Apparently the Salem brain was much in evidence today. First, there was Aiden making a major professional blunder. In a town starved of power it wanted all of it for his stupid press conference. After this, he'll be lucky if eggs and tomatoes aren't thrown in his direction when he wanders through the Town Square.

Another dunce is Clyde for shooting at Aiden, but hitting Abe. If he wanted to make sure that the Salem P.D. would rouse itself from it's usual slumber, there couldn't be a better way. All those cops at the Pub might even decide to hit the street and do their jobs. Mr. Poplar Bluff is also apparently not aware of the fate of 1930s mobster Dutch Schultz after he proposed killing crime-busting D.A. Thomas E. Dewey. Other mobsters decided that killing the D.A. would be a very poor move and killed Schultz instead.

Dimwit number three is the mighty Orpheus himself. Sure a $20 ransom sounds like a great idea, but actually collecting it without being caught is decidedly tricky. So is successfully holding hostages for an extended period. Hasn't Milo ever seen the the fate of Al Pacino and his accomplice in Dog Day Afternoon?

Finally, there's the always not-too-slick Xander. The X-man's misfortunes while trying to watch Joey and big-mouth Claire are akin to those experienced by some hapless substitute teacher who's trying to manage an unruly class.

I got a little exasperated watching this episode. It's a good thing Clyde wasn't the one standing watch over Claire and Joey. He is such a loose cannon, he might have snapped and blown both of them away, with Claire constantly smarting off the way she was. I know I wanted to shut her up myself. I don't think having a smart mouth equals being smart.

And what was Clyde doing but strolling through the middle of the square, surrounded by all those cops and people who know him. In a disguise that made him stand out like a sore thumb! And nobody noticed!

And then there is Orpheus, who really does seem to be more interested in talking than in killing anybody.

John couldn't walk around somewhere to look for a phone signal? I guess he's never lived in rural America.

Finally, with all the police and detectives and vigilantes gathered there in the square, wouldn't somebody have been keeping an eye out on the surrounding buildings? How hard would it be to spot someone standing there sticking a gun out an open window several times, while getting ready to fire?

The actors are all doing a fine job, but I can't help it, I'm having a little trouble taking all this seriously.

Thanks, Jason. That's what I thought since I was able to see it. One station on the East
coast played yesterday's episode at 3 AM this morning.

So can someone explain to me just how Claire's necklace managed to fall on the floor? Cable cut out for me and I missed a few minutes.

I can tell you. 007 (John) got a fancy and pretty panic button, but forgot about the ever important sturdy chain to carry it on, lol!

That's why I'm loving this. It's making me laugh!
