Today we deal mostly with a baby, and a pregnant girl, and it is definitely rinse and repeat for quite a bit of the show. At the cop shop, Andre has refused to allow the exhumation of Stefano. Marlena tries some common sense, Andre says absolutely not, talks of taking the ring off his father's finger. Kate mentions the discrepancies in the foreign accounts, with only Andre or Stefano able to do so. Andre claims Chad is CEO, he could do so. They have tried to reach Chad who is not answering calls. Andre finally, after mentioning the ineffective Salem P.D. who have accused 3 people of this so far, says go ahead, going to love to see mistake #4.
Joey is working part time at the Pub, is bringing Jade all the "right" kinds of foods she should be eating, including his gramma's special sweet potato recipe. Jade's father comes in, ranting and raving at Jade, calling her names, accusing her of sneaking into the house, stealing all his money. She denies, he grabs her purse, the envelope is there, money intact, along with a pic of Jade & her father. Joey has been standing up to him, telling him to back off, leave Jade alone. They argue. He finally tells the father to go before he calls his uncle the cop. The father again calls her names, takes the money from the envelope, throwing it along with the pic back at Jade, saying he has no use for this. He leaves.
Jade is embarrassed, Joey thinks she should have come to him, she did not want to be a burden. He talks of quitting school, she says no, she can get a job. He promised his mom, cannot go back on his word. They have a nice talk, as he talks of growing up without his father who just could not be there, tho he wanted to, she talks of baby sitting so wonderfully when she was younger...he is looking forward to the baby, thinks she will be a great mom, she thinks he will be a fantastic dad.
At the hospital, Nancy wants Deimos to leave the room, Chloe would be upset to find him there. She mentions the woman in the background, Estelle, is the social worker helping her with temporary custody. Nicole has walked in, happily greets Nancy with a hug, but is not to happy to learn Nancy is taking the baby home. Oh, not to NY, to Salem Inn. Nicole offers to come help, maybe babysit Holly while Nancy is here with Chloe. Nancy claims that is not necessary, but loves the name, their Christmas miracle. She goes back into Chloe's room, Nicole goes to freshen her face, she'd been crying. Brady has called Marlena over, explains the situation, Marlena advises he not tell Nicole unless or until he has proof. People can only handle so much heartbreak, and Nicole has already reached her limit.
Deimos realizes Nancy wants no part of him, Brady says he always got along with her, will go talk. Deimos did not get the DNA sample. Brady goes in the room, talks with Nancy a bit, after she gets off the phone with Craig. She intends to stay until Chloe is well. Brady leaves the room, Nancy is talking to Chloe, begging her to wake up, that Nicole needs to know she is the mother, she obviously loves the baby so much. Nancy doesn't know what to do now.
Nancy comes out of the room, carrying the baby, wrapped in a blanket. Nicole asks to hold her, she does, says her heartbreaking goodbyes. Nancy assures her she can come visit any time. She starts to leave, Deimos tells her to wait. He knows she & Chloe don't think much of him, but he will do whatever he can to get the top specialists to come there for Chloe.
Nancy looks at him (loved this), says with a slight snarl, that her husband was Chief of Staff here, and those "top specialists" are our friends. They will be here, your assistance is definitely and obviously not needed. She turns on her heel and leaves. Nicole goes to check on Chloe, Brady tells Deimos what Marlena said, he wonders how they will get proof when Nancy took the baby away.
At the cop shop, Steve, Kayla, Marlena are waiting while Rafe is off getting the body exhumed. Kate talks with Andre, who feels if his father was alive he would contact him. Kate reminds him that though he & Stefano were close, he never told Andre he had cancer. She was married to him, and he kept things from her as well. She is giving Andre food for thought.
Rafe returns, they got the DNA sample. First test in the lab proved without a doubt. The body in that grave is NOT Stefano.
