It's a sunny day here. I washed a sheet and it's hanging outside.

Two policemen looked at the house this morning. They just put yellow tape
around the area. I don't think my cat will understand he's not supposed to
go over and look at it.

This morning, I flipped my bed and found out when my cat hurt himself
he bled on the antique quilt underneath the spread I use for protection.
I read to put area in cold water and soak it. Does anyone have suggestions
I can use? Thanks.

I hope everyone is doing the best they can today.

Good afternoon everyone. I finally made it back to the office. It was a crazy morning with 4 hours of meetings before going to a screening.

I hope Amanda and Gena get some answers today.

Kat, try soaking the spot in white vinegar or peroxide, but only after spot testing a small corner to make sure it doesn't take the color out. Blue Dawn would've worked if the blood was fresh.

Hydrogen peroxide does the job! Just like it bubbles up on your skin/cut, it will do the same on fabric and walls. Do not wash first as it will just set the stain in (from my experience). I learned that very late in life but it does wonders!

Meetings all morning must be a drag (unless you care for that type of thing of course), hope the rest of the day is a little more enjoyable in some way that matters to you.

So good news, my mother & her husband are not coming for my upcoming surgery! Instead, they will come for Little Christmas, right before my oldest daughter returns to college (younger daughter will have returned sooner), which will be more helpful as then I will not have to give up my bed to them right away (they are old and frail and could not survive on an air or futon mattress) and they can help a bit (hypothetically) after both girls are back in school.

Really I am most excited about not giving up my bed or having to cater to them right away and can actually take time to heal. Also my mom is the one who came up with the idea so no guilt on My part lol.

So today we are moving the den furniture to the living room & living room furniture to the den. This is being done to accommodate the room my mom & her husband will need to get around. I will be sad to lose easy access to the back door from My recliner for the pups lol.

Plus I will have to resist the urge to buy a futon and bigger TV for the more convenient den once everything is moved as I currently have nothing but a couple of shoe and a coat rack in the front living room (to be moved to the den) since we had not even been using that living room/door.

Hiring a dude from Craigslist for $25 and the ex is actually coming to help for free so this should be lots of fun. Anyway, wishing you all the best and chat soon!

Oh, wow, moving furniture is a chore, for sure. Glad you are getting help, ypg.

Kat, I don't know about using peroxide on something so old. I read that on dried blood, spread toothpaste, let it dry, and then cold water to wash it off, before washing the item. Good luck.

Snowing off and on here all day so far. Grey skies. Doing laundry. and the dryer calls. Talk later.

A late start for me here at Donuts due to a busy day. Now it is lunch time here and I am just getting started. Oh, well, life is multi-tasking at every level which is proven just by reading all your posts.:)

Kat: I don't think your kitty will notice the yellow tape at all. Cats are so curious. Wonder if it will smell like smoke when it comes home after the adventure in the burned house? Good luck getting out an old blood stain from a vintage quilt.

Squirrel: glad your afternoon is settling down after a super busy morning. You certainly accomplished a great deal with 4 meetings and a screening. I am writing down your stain removal suggestion for future use. Thanks.

YPG: good luck prepping yourself and your home for post surgical recovery and a visit from your Mom. It is always lovely to have family before Christmas and I hope it turns out to be more of a blessing than you can imagine right now. Glad you are getting help moving furniture because it is always a heavy load.

Poirot: more snow? Wow what a White Christmas wonderland you are living in right now. Thanks for another stain removal tip. I can never have too many. Finishing laundry is always a good feeling. Hope your evening is a pleasant one.

Manda: on pins and needles waiting to know the outcome of Gena's appointment today. Prayers, hopes and wishes for a successful treatment plan and pain relief for sweet Gena.

OC: thinking and praying for you and your husband today!

JS: hope your day is going well, you haven't posted in a day or two.

Back to work. Take care everyone.

Good evening. Glad to read all the posts. Wondering even more about Gena and Manda, since there was no update today.

Felt like I was back at square one today. Not a good mood like yesterday. Husband refused to do therapy and got real horsey with the occupational therapist. After she finally gave up and left the room, he said he wished they'd quit asking him all those asinine questions! I won't even describe what lunch was like. His cognitive and functioning skills have deteriorated significantly since he's been in the hospital. The only thing that made the day bearable was that he was groggy and dozed a lot from the meds. I'm thinking they won't keep him in the hospital past this week, so I have a lot to think about and do.

Following his awful rudeness to the therapist and the nurses, I had to get out of there so I left an hour and a half earlier than usual. Did a couple of short errands in town, then came home, got in my pickup truck and took a little drive, then came back and loaded up and went to the dump. I'd never enjoyed going to the dump so much before. It helped that the weather was really nice--at 76*, sunny, and not much wind. A cold front arrives tomorrow.

Now I've sat here and watched my resident possum eating birdseed off the ground for about an hour. That was soothing too. Glad it wasn't a raccoon. It's dark now. Good night all.

OC: so sorry your day was so disappointing. Remember your husband cannot control where the dementia/Alzheimer's destroys his brain. I hope knowing that lightens your burden as it did me with my Mom. The medical professionals know that even though no one appreciates a grumpy patient. Prayers for the difficult decisions you will be making going forward.

Being outdoors in nature can be so soothing and peaceful. Glad you took time for yourself, nurturing your body and soul. Wishing you deep restful sleep my friend.

Good evening my dear friends,

We received wonderful news from the specialist. After all the tests and what not, he sent us to radiology for regular plain old x-rays and discovered that it's not colitis or anything even close. She has severe constipation and a blocked bowel, which can be cleared up with a stool soften to clear out the colon. He said about a third of the colon is full of, well you know what's in there. I'm so relieved. She won't be able to go to school until Friday to give her a chance to get all cleared out, but then she should be back to normal. My prayers have been answered!!

OC - sorry things are so rough for you and your husband.

Noel - hope things slow down for you

YPG - glad you'll have time to heal, before entertaining guests

Kat - good luck with your quilt

Poirot - I'm grateful that the snow held off down here, that would have made our trip terrible.

RS - thank you for all your prayers. I'm so relieved that it's something so simple.

Manda: Awesome!! :clap:This great answered prayers and good wishes from all who love you and Gena! A little pampering for Gena is due after all her pain and missing events. Enjoy your time together tonight, relax, and have a great night.

Thanks for all the suggestions about the quilt. My friend said she had something
to get the blood out. I'm not going to worry it. She'll have her
Christmas break
coming up and we can work on it then.

OC, I'm sorry things aren't going well with your husband. You'll have to decide
what's best for the both of you. I'm glad you were able to have some time for
yourself and be outside.

manda, great news about Gena. I hope it won't be long until she feels better again.

Manda, I came here this evening hoping that you had checked in to let us know about Gena! So relieved to hear that there is finally a diagnosis and that she should be just fine by the end of the week. Whew!! So sorry that she [and you] had to go through all this stress, but thankful that is almost over with.

OC ~~ darn it! So darn sorry that today has been such a downer at the hospital. Glad you were able to find at least some relief by taking a much needed break. I hope you can get some good rest tonight.
