7/4/2017 - Donuts on the Fourth!!

Yes. Such sacrifices! This morning I was thinking of Dr Warren, Samuel Peabody and all the militia the British captured and kept on prison ships. They died with untreated wounds, disease, and rat infested foodstuffs (cholera, typhus, smallpox). They could free if they renounced their participation in the colonies and pledged loyalty to the British commonwealth. To a man very young men mostly, they chose prison and death. They never saw their loved ones again and died loyally in agony. Now that is a legacy of patriotism!

We switched to PBS years ago. A Capitol 4th is family perfect.

It's been raining off and on all afternoon and evening. People still shooting
things off. It will probably get worse around 9
 
I watched Capitol 4th...and then a bit of Macy....I can hear the local booms...but the trees block the view
 
We watched some cartoons for the 4th, and in 30 minutes, the PBS special repeats. It has to be dark for me to enjoy the tv fireworks. A happy 4th now slowly faded into fireworks.
