8/30/2021 - Donuts and a jolt of caffeine

Another cloudy day. Yesterday afternoon I had a short rain. Maybe I'll have another
one today. This morning, I worked some outside after my haircut.

My friend will come later and help me move the china cabinet. My doors should be
here tomorrow.

robin, I hope your day goes well.

I hope everyone has a nice afternoon and evening.

Good morning. Fix-it is here, getting ready to put down tile. I've got some other projects I want him to do but it sounds like he wouldn't get to them any time soon. After he's finished with my bathroom floor, I need to turn my attention to getting the leak at the well fixed by the busy pump service guy. All people who do these types of jobs are backed up farther than they can see.

Kat, it's nice your friend will come and help you move the china cabinet. I remember how heavy my mother's china cabinet was. They would move it each year to put in window unit air conditioners. It was passed down from my g-aunt, and now my daughter has it.

Robin, as though the desert isn't hot enough anyway, muggy with that kind of heat is intolerable! I guess I hope you get some rain. Not sure how much it helps in that environment.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
After an exhausting weekend I'm glad to be back at work. Gena spent the better part of yesterday afternoon/evening with my sisters, first getting manicures, then having a spicy chip eating challenge (Gena and my brother-in-law tied for the win). My one sister had to rush home early as her long time boyfriend's father passed away yesterday. But my other sister and her husband had dinner with Gena and my dad & step-witch, then they brought her home. While she was gone I went hunting for a shirt for school pictures, the clothes for teens & tweens is awful, everything is Amish looking dresses with puffy sleeves, crop tops, super low cut tops, or those baby doll style dresses from the 90's. None of which Gena will wear. I managed to find 3 tye-dye shirts, one of which I think will look okay for pictures. School starts Thursday, meet & greet is tomorrow evening.

Robin - oh no, humidity on top of your heat, how dreadful. I'm sorry.
OC - I hope you can get your pump fixed soon. I'm glad Fix-it Guy is there to do your floor.
Kat - I hope the cabinet move goes smoothly, those are super heavy.

Sunshine and in the mid-70s. Was informed hubby will be released today, will be coming home. He has even more problems now, with blood in his stool, edema in legs & arms. He insists that they take out the IVs, no more blood work, itching cream, removal of heart monitor.....and they suggested hospice care, and he said NO. He will be arriving later this afternoon.

It was easy to move the china cabinet. It's been sitting in the same spot for 14
years. She brought the items you put under furniture to move it. All we had
to do was push it.

Poirot, I hope you can get extra help somehow. People from hospice can come to
your home. They can give you emotional help besides helping him. Contact your
church. You might find people who can sit with him when you need to be gone.

OC, I'm glad Mr. Fixit can fix the current project. I hope you can get the pump man
come fix your leak soon.

manda, I'm glad you found something for Gena to wear. She may have to make
her own clothes. Some clothes in stores are awful.

Good afternoon everyone.

My first day back to work, but not much getting done while still dilated. I have the screen zoomed so I can read and post here on the Spectator.

Had my vitreo-retinal appointment this morning. I had a different specialist since the one I normally see has been on vacation.
This doctor ordered a tomography with fluorescence (pictures taken with various colors of fluorescent light alternately strobing through the retina) of both eyes instead of an ultrasound this time because the initial images showed some striation of the cancer (raised lines going through it). After checking those second set of images of my right retina, he said everything was fine as the capsulation was condensing the cancerous cells into a smaller area.

He also said the vitreous separation (gel-like substance in the posterior chamber of the eye) in my left eye actually doesn't look quite as bad as before since the gigantic floater of dead cells that blocked all of my central vision is just about gone. I don't even see it any more, but I get a bright flash of light when I turn my head to the left too quickly. I already knew that was the separated area pulling on my retina. The doctor said that fortunately my retina isn't showing any signs of weakening in that area so not to worry about a detachment occurring as long as I behave with no falls, head injuries, etc. (kat, this is about 2 steps beyond what your ophthalmologist called a "wrinkle".)

When scheduling my next appointment, I asked if I could see this doctor again. The answer was not unless my retinal specialist ok'd a transfer even they're in the same practice. They're both great at what they do, but this one communicates everything he's doing and why. My doctor doesn't say much unless you ask a lot of questions.

robinsnest - Working this week? If so, I hope it goes better with much less stress than last week.

kat - I bet that's a relief to have your china cabinet moved without difficulty.

OC - I'm glad Mr Fixit got the bathroom leak fixed. Hopefully the leak at the well can be fixed soon. Water is too precious for your cattle for it to be spilled into the ground.

Amanda - I hear you about the state of girls' clothing that is being sold everywhere. Most of the stuff here makes young girls look like little tramps.

Poirot - I'm so sorry that things are getting much worse there. Your husband should allow Hospice to come in. They're goal is to make him more comfortable, and to ease your burden and stress.

My cousin's husband is now on Hospice, and the VA is no longer doing his care. They have him only on oxygen, a nebulizer, pain medication, an anxiety medication ( to mellow him out so he isn't nasty to my cousin), plus a sponge bath every other day. All other medications, tests, etc., have been stopped.

Kat - glad moving the China hutch was easy.

RS - I'm thinking that's good news about your eyes, it sounds very complicated. I usually shop for Gena in the women's department since she prefers baggy clothes, and she's 5 ft 5 in already, and built like me, so it fits better, but still the clothing is dismal. I tried Target, Walmart, TJ Maxx, and Old Navy, with 1 shirt from Target, and 2 from Old Navy.

RS - Glad to hear your friend and her family are safe.

Mandy.....what about Penny's or Kohl's???

rs, I'm glad you got a good report on your eye exam. Good news about your friend and
her family.

Poirot- she was at Kohl's with my mom not too long ago, and said all of the clothes look like old lady clothes, my mom said the same, although Gena did find one tye-dye sweatshirt with a little elephant embroidered on the front and a bigger one on the back, part of the proceeds went to elephant habitat restoration, which my mom bought her, for which I was grateful as it had a $75 price tag, that wouldn't fit into my budget. I never think to go to Penny's, even though I drive past to get to Target. I'll have to try there.

Also, try the "petite" section, if it is just tops.......heck a large there might work, and those styles are usually younger looking. You never know what you might run across. (try that dept. at those stores YOU mentioned....never hurts to look. :)

Manda — you can only order online but my girls like Aeropostale and I usually buy women’s instead of juniors and size up for them to be a little baggy.

the girls also get a lot of t-shirts from hot topic
