Good afternoon everyone.
My first day back to work, but not much getting done while still dilated. I have the screen zoomed so I can read and post here on the Spectator.
Had my vitreo-retinal appointment this morning. I had a different specialist since the one I normally see has been on vacation.
This doctor ordered a tomography with fluorescence (pictures taken with various colors of fluorescent light alternately strobing through the retina) of both eyes instead of an ultrasound this time because the initial images showed some striation of the cancer (raised lines going through it). After checking those second set of images of my right retina, he said everything was fine as the capsulation was condensing the cancerous cells into a smaller area.
He also said the vitreous separation (gel-like substance in the posterior chamber of the eye) in my left eye actually doesn't look quite as bad as before since the gigantic floater of dead cells that blocked all of my central vision is just about gone. I don't even see it any more, but I get a bright flash of light when I turn my head to the left too quickly. I already knew that was the separated area pulling on my retina. The doctor said that fortunately my retina isn't showing any signs of weakening in that area so not to worry about a detachment occurring as long as I behave with no falls, head injuries, etc. (kat, this is about 2 steps beyond what your ophthalmologist called a "wrinkle".)
When scheduling my next appointment, I asked if I could see this doctor again. The answer was not unless my retinal specialist ok'd a transfer even they're in the same practice. They're both great at what they do, but this one communicates everything he's doing and why. My doctor doesn't say much unless you ask a lot of questions.
robinsnest - Working this week? If so, I hope it goes better with much less stress than last week.
kat - I bet that's a relief to have your china cabinet moved without difficulty.
OC - I'm glad Mr Fixit got the bathroom leak fixed. Hopefully the leak at the well can be fixed soon. Water is too precious for your cattle for it to be spilled into the ground.
Amanda - I hear you about the state of girls' clothing that is being sold everywhere. Most of the stuff here makes young girls look like little tramps.
Poirot - I'm so sorry that things are getting much worse there. Your husband should allow Hospice to come in. They're goal is to make him more comfortable, and to ease your burden and stress.
My cousin's husband is now on Hospice, and the VA is no longer doing his care. They have him only on oxygen, a nebulizer, pain medication, an anxiety medication ( to mellow him out so he isn't nasty to my cousin), plus a sponge bath every other day. All other medications, tests, etc., have been stopped.
