Good Morning Everyone,
It was cloudy when I was driving to work, and now we have storms with thunder and lightening. We've had rain on and off all weekend. I managed to luck out and get my laundry home from the laundromat yesterday in between storms. Laundry yesterday was a major project as it was the bi-annual of washing all the bedding, including pillows, mattress covers, and Gena's stuffed animals. I do the sheets and blankets regularly, but not all the others, those get done in the fall (before school starts) and spring. This also leads to me taking the beds apart to vacuum underneath the beds. I somehow found the energy to make meatloaf and garlic parmesan roasted potatoes for dinner. Needless to say I was exhausted by the time I crawled into bed last night. Sad to say, but it's a relief to be back at work to relax a bit after all of that.

Wishing you all a wonderful Monday!

Good morning everyone. Already made a trip to Walmart to get some supplies for my desk. Have to buy it while the stuff is cheaper. I 've found it is better to buy it all from the fall school supply area than the stationery aisles. The prices are lower for the same items. You have to check the UPC codes because sometimes the last number is different. The same thing is true for glues and tapes...the prices are usually lower if you get them from Walmart's hardware department than the office supply area.

The weekend got away from me again, but I accomplished a lot. Friday was all medical appointments and running errands. Plus I paid my school real estate taxes (OUCH!) Thank goodness I can get a wee bit taken off through the homestead deduction. Each municipality is given so much money from the taxes levied on the casinos in the state. That's divided and applied to the school taxes of the property owners who have filed as a homestead. In my town it amounts to between $100 and $120 per year. This year, we got a $104 deduction. Plus I get a 5% deduction for paying early.

I'm now stocked up on strawberry jam and freezer pickles for some time. I gave away most of the batches that I made when I was off 2 weeks ago so spent most of Saturday and Sunday in the kitchen to make more of each.

I'm so sorry for all of you who had troubles over the weekend. I just caught up with all of your posts.

Amanda - That was a lot of laundry and cleaning, but I bet you're glad that you got it done.

RS - I stock up school supplies for office supplies this time of year too, and I buy extras once everything goes on clearance. Last year I bought new larger pairs scissors for my Girl Scout Troop, I think I paid 50 cents a pair, and the normal price was over $2 each. I'm relieved to have all that cleaning done, so much work to move full size mattresses and box springs by yourself. Gena was kind enough to help me put them back on the beds, but was taking a shower when I took them apart. Taking the beds apart serves a 2 part purpose, cleaning under the beds and checking to make sure the bed bugs haven't come back. I'm a bit paranoid about it after dealing with them for so long and I know the can hide and be dormant for several months, so I don't like to take chances. I didn't find any, but I sprayed with the bug killer just to be safe.

It's going to be another sunny, hot week here. The temps will like the 100s with the
humidity. After my walk this morning, I watered the front bed.

This morning, I went out and did shopping. I went to Kohl's since I had discount coupon.
My store doesn't open until 10 now so I didn't have to leave early. I stopped at Walmart
first and bought some things I can't find at the one I usually shop. I'm going to have to
tell my cat that store doesn't carry the flavors he likes anymore. The store took out several
feet of canned cat food. The shelves had a lot of empty spaces today too.

manda, please send some rain my way. I really need some. You had busy Sunday with
cleaning and washing.

rs, thanks for the tip about shopping in different areas of Walmart.

I hope everyone has a nice afternoon.

Good morning.... my neighbor detailed my car last night and this morning. This morning I went out while barefoot to see the work he had done and without knowing it stood in an ant trail..... the benadryl gel is making my feet sticky but no longer on fire itchy. IT is cloudy and we are expecting some thunder and rain later this afternoon. That should be good for the trees. Tomorrow my car goes into the shop for it's 40k service I figured I might as well get it done before I drive to Los Angeles, rather than wait till after. Lord knows how much that is going to cost me.

Manda would you mind coming and washing all my cabin linens and my house linens?? I should just go to a laundry mat and get it all done same day.

kat good luck explaining to your cat he needs to change favorite flavors....

Robin - our laundromat has a huge 100 lb washer, I fit almost everything into one load, including 2 standard pillows, 2 king size pillows, 3 throw pillows, 2 full blankets, 2 lap size blankets, 2 sets of sheets, umpteen stuffed animals, 1 mattress protector, and 2 baskets of clothes. I just had to put 2 small pillows and a mattress protector in 20 lb washer. The huge washer costs $12 to run and includes laundry detergent and fabric softener, bonus it spins it out really well so everything dries in about 30 minutes. - It's good that your car is clean

Kat - I hope shipping went well. I'll share some rain, but it's been a very hot dry summer here overall, so we need it too.

Amanda, that 100 lb washer sounds amazing. Having the soap and fabric softener included is a big bonus.

robinsnest, my feet are starting to burn and itch from thinking about those ant bites. I hope the Benadryl works for you.

kat, I have a feeling that your cat will still give you the stink eye for a while over the change in food flavors.

rs, I know he will. He doesn't like pate cat food and that's what they have most of all.
He'll just have to have the same ones over and over.

robin, I hope your car check up won't be too expensive. At least, you're getting it done
before you leave in case it needs something done right away.

manda, that washer sounds amazing. Can you see inside when it's working?

Manda, I'm sitting here stunned, trying to imagine a washing machine that will hold all that stuff! When I was reading your first post, I kept thinking how nice you don't have to deal with those horrible bed bugs now. I hope you never see another one, ever!

Kat, I hope your kitty doesn't go on a hunger strike. If Manda sends you too much rain, you can send the extra my way. Getting very hot and dry here.

Robin, what a treat, to get your car detailed! I hope your ants weren't fire ants, although some other ants can really hurt too.

Squirrel, you sure did get a lot done! It's great to get some discounts on the taxes. I get the homestead break too, and also a senior discount.

I had one of those mornings where one thing after another goes wrong but I can't complain too much, since I hadn't had a day like that in some time. I didn't sleep well last night so overslept this morning, though still nowhere near enough sleep. My niece was coming at 8:00 to drive my truck to the shop (40 miles) and I would follow in my car so we could leave the truck. I don't remember what I told about the weekend so forgive if I repeat. My truck always smells mousy so I went out late yesterday to put in a new "bad air sponge" in addition to the one already in there and also there are 2 open containers of baking soda. I was shocked to find a dead mouse in a trap, which I didn't even know was in there because I quit setting traps a month or so ago. Don't know how long it had been there but you don't want to know the details. After the cleanup and disinfecting, I dumped a cup of baking soda on top of the area.

While rushing to get ready this morning I got a return call from my well service guy. I'd called him Saturday after finding another leak at my pump. After I explained the situation to him this morning he gave me a couple of options, which silly as it sounds, almost brought me to tears. One way makes the most sense. The other way has some sentimentality involved, making it hard to go another way. I think he's wrong about something so I've been going through my picture files of when the pipes were installed, in hopes of making the second option feasible.

So my niece went on ahead, as the truck needed gas, and I wasn't ready yet. Then when I finally got going, I arrived at my cattleguard going off my property and found a sassy heifer calf walking the cattleguard, with smaller calves watching and expecting to do the same. I managed to discourage them but the heifer had already made her way out and she was not about to go back in. I tried for a little while but it really needed 2 people. So I went on my way and hoped she'd go back in, once there was nobody around to defy, which I guess she did. I picked up my niece at the repair shop, we did a couple of quick errands, then ate some tasty hamburgers at a place we'd never gone before, where they make things the old-fashioned way, instead of using the frozen pre-formed stuff. It was 105*, sunny and windy when we got home.

OC, you had a busy day. I hope you can find the pictures of the pipes so you can do the second option.
Hopefully, you can stay home tomorrow and rest.

Good afternoon, all ~
I'm kind of in shock and feeling sick to my stomach. My next-door neighbor just told me that his wife died. I'm stunned. She had a weak heart and had recently started having seizures. She was on meds for that. Apparently, she had another seizure and her heart just couldn't take it.
Feeling so sad.

Lil0 - I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor

OC - I hope they can fix the pump the way you want. I'll take a picture of the huge washer the next time I'm at the laundromat to share, but it won't be for a few weeks.
