Lovely sunny day, 71, 50% humidity. 58 this morning. We won't get higher than 75 today.

If you remember, been trying hard to not have any donuts and the like for a while, but I might cave soon. Entenmann's rolled out their seasonal Apple Cider Donuts, so I scurried fast past the "showcase" at the end of the aisle. Having none works, but having one begs for more. Let's see if I can maintain my resolve. Hey, I'm only human!

Wishing all a "sweet" day, even if you don't indulge in any sweets!

Yesterday while BEAST was at day care having fun we had pancakes for brunch...... I love the apple fritter or two and am so very glad that here I actually have quite a ways to go to get one.... which is helpful.... in avoiding.... ya know??

Grandson is home sick today after spending all of last week out sick..... I just hope he didn't share illness with his Paw paw yesterday......

It's amazing how the grass has slowed it's growth.... it is cut on Thursday and in July and August by Monday it was shaggy again and really over grown and long by Thursday.... This week, we could skip and not be long and shaggy.... I don't remember that in Sacramento where I had grass... interesting....

My former neighbor called yesterday to tell me they finished my pool.... it looks very nice and they fixed the light so the pool light now works. Which is important for a vacant house to have a working pool light.... (the light in the deep end of the pool) The people who purchased it live in San Francisco and work in Medical Instrument Supply industry and they purchased this to rent out to Visiting/Traveling Nurses. So short term leasing... this will drive my neighbor nuts....

Have a great Wednesday....

Hope the person who bought your house has a good cleaning person to go in and "tidy up". Having been in the rental business, nurses or not, there is not always a clean and tidy place when the short term renters leave.

(I truly thought I had posted yesterday, but things got crazy at work and with family drama after work).

Good afternoon everyone. A beautiful day here in the mid 70s, and falling to the low 50s tonight. This and temps between 20* and 30* are when I can breathe the best so definitely loving it now.

Had a very easy school about a half mile from the office. The kids were well behaved and the teachers were prepared...yep, perfect.

Then came back to the office to get my flu shot. This was a different Rite-Aid pharmacist than the one who usually comes. I went to school with this one's grandmother, and she teased that she was giving me the "senior citizen flu shot" because I was "mature". Then added that she wouldn't dare call me old because her grandma would kill her being we're the same age.

A co-worker who is 61 came in, and asked if he heard right that there is a senior shot different from the regular flu shot. She said "Yes, but the needle is twice as big, too" while winking at me. I had to hurry out of the room before I burst out laughing.

WW, I 'm very lucky that I can get the Amish made apple cider donuts while they're still warm.
Entenmann's had to close their baking plant near here because this is Little Debbie Country. Walmart is the only place to get their products. Meanwhile, Little Debbie goods are sold in every grocery and convenience store.

robinsnest, boy, I bet the rent will be super high for your old house with all of the money the new owners are spending to pretty it up. That's a wonderful theater program.

rf - our police on both sides of the PA / Ohio state line are doing a great job educating everyone here about human trafficking. They keep showing us that the 3 busiest corridors for the traffickers kidnapping, moving, and "selling" girls, women, and boys are the I-5 (Mexico through California to Canada), I-95 (Florida up the east coast to Canada), and I-80 (San Francisco to New Jersey outside of New York City). My town is along Interstate 80 plus close to 2 other north/south interstates. Several teenagers go missing from this area each month.

After a rainy night and morning, the sun is out. Rain expected again tonight and tomorrow.

Another busy day for me. My bible course is Wed morning. I left a little early to walk Fenix
since it's circle time again. We decided to go back to evenings and the 2nd Monday so no
more conflict. I was almost home when there was a mishap on the road. Traffic is terrible
after bible class driving close to campus.

Wilde Woman, those donuts look yummy. It's been years since I've had one with that flavor.

robin, I feel sorry for your neighbor with people renting next door. Does Phoenix have laws
about that? The big town had a to put their foot down about Bed and Breakfast. You can
either be short term or long term. And the city is checking water usage to see who hasn't
signed up properly.

rf, I've heard during football season trafficking is awful.

rs, what a funny joke about the shot.

I hope everyone is doing well with the change in weather.

The human trafficking is so horrifying. With all the awful things going on I have severely curtailed my news watching. Still, there's no shutting it out completely.

Squirrel, I hope your family drama settles down. That's always an unsettling thing. Glad you're having some breathe-friendly weather. I know from family members that humidity is terrible for respiratory problems.

Wilde Woman, best wishes on the donut struggle. My daughter can be satisfied with taking just one taste of something sweet but that sure doesn't work for me. Hope you are enjoying your nice weather. Seems like you and Squirrel both have had a shortage of sunshine for a while.

Robin, I guess the shorter days are slowing down the grass growth. Since it's been too dry for ours to grow here all summer, we're hoping the recent rains will keep it growing now that it's turned green. We're back up close to 100* again for a few days so that should help.

We had a storm last night. Lots of lightning (electricity off and on) and wind but not a lot of rain, maybe 1/4 inch (I forgot to empty my rain gauge before that). But the storm split before it reached us, and the people on the south side of our community got large hail. So did the area across the river to the north.

I went to a funeral this morning. A 99 year old lady in our community died last week, while out in her yard watering her flowers and plants. She was still living alone in her home, with a daughter a couple of miles away keeping a close check on her. This woman lived a most remarkable life. She was born in Minnesota, met and married a man (who went to school with my mother) from here. They met overseas during WWII, where he was stationed and she was working there at some war effort job. He had a career in the military, then as a college professor, they lived all over and raised nine kids. After retirement they moved back here to his home place. She went back to college in her 70s, traveled across the world several times. It goes on and on. Really, it would make a good movie.

Kat, I hope your schedule change for the Bible study make it better for you. When you have several people involved in anything it can be hard to find a time that's right for everybody.

I didn't have a very filling lunch and now I'm hungry again. Reading about the donuts didn't help.

Thanks for sharing.

It's terrible how we treat our home. When I walk, I pick up trash. It's not as bad as it used to be.

My internet has been terrible for a couple of days, hard to impossible for things to load, so I couldn't see it. But it sounds interesting. Makes my head explode when I see people throw trash out a car window or just deliberately throw down trash anywhere.
