What Abby did was return to Salem, saw her son, her husband, and just because he was sitting with Gabi in the square, kept herself hidden in the Horton attic, letting everyone but her mother not know she was alive after all. THAT was wrong. She was well, much better, etc.
Hate the entire story. But do agree, I have no idea why Chad has been stringing both women along, both getting mixed signals. He professes to his wife he loves her, wants to be with her, continue their marriage, but then he tells Gabi how he loves her, still has feelings for her, etc.
