A new day, 37 minutes of show today.

Show opens with Stephanie opening her laptop to start work. There is a sticky note that says “Thinking of you, every part of you” C (or something like that) Stephanie picks up her phone to text Chad when the doorbell rings, it’s Chad’s freshly cleaned robe at the door. Sadly, Alex is with the robe. Stephanie tries to get rid of Alex, as she has to get to work. Alas, Alex walks in.

Chad and Theo chat, Theo tells Chad about Lani. Eli arrives at Paulina’s looking for Lani.

At the pier, Lani has a weak pulse. So instead of calling EMS, they discuss what may or may not have happened.

Marlena and Kayla discuss Nurse King and the guilt she must have. John calls and tells Marlena everything or something, we don’t hear his side of the story.

Abe is on the couch wondering why he is so tired all the time? Nurse Whitless comes out with the handy dandy space heater, because it’s summer and you can never be too warm, right? Nurse Whitless piles all the cats on Abe and tells them about how the cats used to enjoy fighting to sit on Abe’s lap. Whitless tells Abe that everything went wrong on the outside but here on the inside it can all be happy.

Marlena tells Kayla that Nurse King aka Whitless is holding Abraham hostage. Kayla wisely asks did they call the police? Well, Steve left a message for Jada. Now, Kayla and Marlena are going to alert the police that the mayor has been kidnapped. They are going to call Rafe!

Eli is grilling Paulina on Lani’s whereabouts, Eli assures Paulina that Lani will explain why she is late.

Jada has called EMS. The US Marshal finds a used syringe and knows it’s drug use. With a 6 cc syringe, because all junkies use huge syringes. This is the last time we see the handsome US Marshal for this episode.

Theo was searching all night but no sign of Lani. Theo has called Claire; she wishes she could be here to help. Chad says what do you need from me? Chad tries to assure Theo that it will work out, he needs a distraction. Chad suggests a game of chess. They talk of the new apartment. Theo knows something is wrong. Chad is unhappy with Alex living next door.

Alex hangs out in the apartment as Stephanie makes some suggestions and eye rolls and hints to leave. Alex says he can take a hint. Stephanie says CAN YOU? Are you not aware of being a jerk? Alex who left his eye glasses at home has nothing to play with for this part of the conversation. So, he goes dumb.

Kayla and Marlena talk about how happy they are that Rafe and Jada are going to Nurse King's house. This is based on the news that no one can reach Jada or Rafe, so they should already be rescuing Abe.

Abe asks why is he suddenly always tired? Nurse Whitless says it’s because she doesn’t want him to hurt any more. She feels a little sad. She keeps thinking about that day she left him alone. God has given her a second chance. Nurse Whitless has turned on the space heater and they sit to watch TV or just take a nap together. She forces Abe into a napping position. Abe notices a smell.

Eli can’t figure out why Rafe hasn’t called with an update on Lani. Eli calls Rafe. Rafe answers and says that things have been happening fast (WHAT??). Rafe tells Eli to get to the hospital fast.

Lani is in a hospital bed in a gown with tubes and nasal cannulas as Jada walks in. Jada has the syringe. They are going to test it to see what it is and if there is an antidote.

Chad tells Theo that Stephanie and Alex dated, we get a recap of the Stephanie/Alex/Chad story. Theo asks questions so it goes on and on and on. Chad whines on and on.

Alex is shocked he was called a Jerk. Stephanie calls him out, Alex says he was just being neighborly. Stephanie continues to call him out. Alex says yep, he’s being a jerk.

Lani was injected with a powerful anesthesia drug. Kayla tells the Salem PD the news of Nurse King and Abe and the kidnapping, because most hospitals know all the news of crime going on. Rafe and Jada leave the room in a hurry.

Marlena shows up at the door, walks in, reacts badly to the smell of gas. Nurse Whitless tells Charlemagne (Marlena) to leave. Marlena is confused, she explains the place is toxic they have to get out. Nurse Whitless walks away.

Stephanie, the girl that has to get to work, continues to talk with Alex, the boy who won’t take a hint or a direct order. (Are they really the end game?)

Kayla calls Theo and tells him that the police found Lani and she’s going to be okay. There is more news, please come to the hospital.

Paulina and Eli arrive at the hospital and walk into Lani’s room. Dammed that US Marshal, who has disappeared for a few minutes. Lani tells of being drugged by Nurse King. Lani is trying to tell them about Abe. She tells them that Abe is alive. Paulina stands stunned and silent. Kayla tells Paulina that no, this is the truth.

Nurse Whitless and Charlemagne (Marlena) argue in the closed room with a faulty heater. This time Nurse Whitless will make it right. Marlena wants to help. Jada and Rafe kick in the door.

Jada tells Eli and Paulina what happened and how Jerry recanted the story. Lani tells them about drugging Abe and pretending to be Paulina.

Whitless picks up a lighter and threatens to blow up the building. Abe wonders what is going on? Nurse Whitless mumbles the Lord's Prayer as she holds the lighter. Abe reaches out and touches her. Nurse Whitless hands Marlena the lighter.

Alex says message received, and he goes to leave. Stephanie wants to know why are you being a jerk now? Alex responds with an answer. Stephanie tells him he will one day find his own true wuv. She hugs Alex, and Chad walks in. Because, of COURSE?

Chad and Alex discuss loudly boundaries. Another stupid conversation. Alex leaves, Chad realizes he has overreacted.

Paulina can’t believe Abe is alive. In a town where returning from the dead is more common than going grocery shopping.

Eli assures Lani her father is safe.

Jada calls the police captain tells him/her the location is secure and to alert the mental health team. Jada reads Nurse Whitless her rights.

At the hospital, Marlena wheels in Abe who is still drugged and confused. Paulina and Theo (who just arrived) hug the confused Abe.

Used to be the DiMeras would always refer to Stefano as "the Phoenix" and say "The Phoenix rises again." Well, so does everyone else in Salem. Maybe that's why it's Days of our Lives. The "Lives" is plural because no one ever stays dead. haha

Thank you, Robin!

FINALLY, Abe is rescued! But still with amnesia and very confused.

I was yelling at the screen that everyone is talking about someone else gong to Whitley's apartment when no one was yet.

Just like Lani before her, Marlena took a huge risk by going to Whitley's apartment without any type of weapon (even a large umbrella, seriously).

So NOW we see there IS a window in the living room. But Abe was too weak and out of it to even think about yelling for help out the window. Heck, he was so weak, he couldn't yell if he tried. Plus he didn't realize how much trouble he was in.

Theo mentioned Claire. Sometimes when characters are mentioned, we see them return. Is there a new storyline for Claire in Salem? Methinks not. Theo will likely return to Africa once Abe's memory returns, and hope it won't be long from now.

Since Whitley quit her job, will COBRA kick in to pay for psychiatric care?

Will Stephanie's tongue lashing at Alex "hold" or will he return to his wicked wicked ways? Well, now we know the bathrobe stain was coffee.

Alex needs to deal with his obsession and discuss it with Marlena. Moving across the hall from Stephanie and Chad was a huge mistake, and if he was serious about changing, he never should have moved in there. Either have him leave town or get a new gal pal.

It's just a rehash of EJ moving into the apartment across from Sami and Lucas.

Thanks, Robin. Loved all your "common sense" asides, as that is something seriously lacking in Salem, or perhaps in the writers' room. LOL

I don't know, the show seemed like it was filmed on a lot of different days, and then pieced together poorly. Not really the editing, just perhaps the consistency. Hard to believe cops who don't immediately call for the EMTs when finding unconscious people. Also hard to believe Marlena, of all people, rushing to Whitley's apt. ALONE, being able to open the door, and with that smell, not opening or breaking a window immediately! Even she did not call 911. Egads.

And worse, John & Steve were supposed to be out looking, as well as others, and none of them called. Marlena wheels Abe into hospital.......all by her lonesome......what a gal!

Just curious why a bathrobe, which is worn usually when one is wet from water, needed to be dry cleaned? Huh? Maybe it would shrink if immersed in water??

Alex is the densest idiot in Salem, or else very good at pretending to be, while he annoys everyone around him. Am so glad Stephanie finally lit into him, told him off, even with him still acting like a doofus.

Why no one checks their messages when they're all over the country trying to sort this mess is beyond me.

I'm just glad they're out of that demented cat apartment. And does this mean a new apartment set is available? Did Brady ever find a new realtor? Chop, chop.

Thanks, robin.

A happy day in Salem. Lani and Abe both were found.

Alex needs to wear his glasses. I keep thinking he's Ben.

Alex needs to keep seeing Marlena if he has no idea he's crossing boundaries by going
to Chad and Stephanie's anytime he wants.

I'm glad Eli got back to Salem to be with Lani.

Is Theo dating Claire? He told Chad he wished she was there with him.

Poor Abe. He seems so confused at the hospital.

YAY that this stupid story is going to be over. It lasted way too long. I don't care if it takes a while for Abe to get his memory back, just glad that he is out of Whitless' clutches.
Yes it seems to be about over and blessed peace just might return for awhile. The befuddled mayor barely speaks, jailbird Lani is out of it, loudmouth Paulina now has little reason to squawk and howl, and horndog Alex and his glasses have promised to be good. As for Nurse Katzenmutter, she could be headed for Bayview. If Harris lands there too, he and Katzenmutter and her toy stuffed cats might just become Salem’s faux family of the year.
