Wendy knows English, French and Mandarin (or whichever language her parents speak) and who knows what else. My sister took it as an elective in college. I learned at a few workshops when I was a teacher at a school with non-verbal students. My cousin used to sign for her church. None of us have any connection to hearing impaired people. So, it wouldn't surprise me that she can sign.

Except that she was raised in Hong Kong. Where would she have learned ASL? If she grew up in Salem (who knows, maybe these writers have changed her backstory), I wouldn't flinch at the suggestion.
